That is now one of the things on my 'for later' list.
Now: Does anyone have tips for how to model an engine, like where to start or anything like that. I have thought about using the in-game model, but I want this mod to be mine, my models, my jbeam, my textures and such. However I can't seen to get further than the temporary engine from a month or two back.

yay! Thanks man- if possible maybe make the french two tone as a siren for it - as the stock one on beamng is no offense rather low quality, and the lower tone is very quiet

I, don't know about that however.

I want to clear up things that people may have questions about.
There will only be one engine variant.
There will only be sedan models upon first release
I will end up needing help figuring out many parts of texturing and areas of jbeam
I cannot work constantly, there are things going on in my private life that are slowing progress. Sometime in the future it may come to a standstill.
The other mods mentioned are in no way related and in most cases may never be made, as I said they were for where I could go in the future.
    That's all for now.

I have finished most of the small bugs. I now have full view on:
    Engine
Suspension (I'm going to try and use the original suspension from the renault 4)
    Rear doors
    Chassis
After this I will do no more on the modelling front as I want to get it to a workable state before adding pickups or vans or sticking a gun to it etc.
That's all for now, I hope that I can finish this and a if anyone can give advice that would be helpful, thanks for everyone's support!

    That freaking bonnet.

Now the question: should I use the original bonnet or the more realistic one. I couldn't care either way, now I'm going to calm down.

Here is the new bonnet with better lighting and a new-ish gearbox, more details to be added to it though. I Honestly cannot find a way to make the front drivetrain work so... it'll be messy no matter what.

Here is a more detailed gearbox in the engine bay, the odd shadows are just due to odd lighting and teaks to make the engine and gearbox fit correctly.

I thought I had already done this but I can't find it on the forum recently, a list of things to do:
    1. Finish engine and front axle
    2. Start suspension
    3. Remake the chassis
    4. Start rear doors
    5. Make glass
    6. Find a will to live
    7. Export diffuse maps of everything (50+ parts)
    8. Possibly remake bumpers as they were created early on and have issues, might be passable though.

They are not in the correct order BTW.

Heh... I tested the blender exporter plugin, with a complex model. Rest in peace laptop. Most progress was saved, but it may take a little longer.

I got bored modelling the engine again so here are some rear doors and a "template" that will help with the pickup and van variants.

If you want a small reference on a FWD gearbox, you can always look at images on my summer car to check whereabouts the halfshafts are on the gearbox.

The problem is, the renault 4 is weird. So it isn't like any other car and I need to investigate the renault 4 specifically, with the exception of the front grill, that is borrowed from a lada and then squished. I am going to make the engine first anyway just so I know where I can place the axles.
Also very cheaply made glass that finishes the exterior :):):):):):) :

Ok, one thing for everyone, there is no reason to say sorry for small things like this, or if I disagree with criticism. Most of the time it's helpful and doesn't need apologizing as you did nothing wrong. :):):):):):):):):):):):):0

    --Serious Notice--

About half an hour before posting this message I was informed that my Grandma has passed away. This means that all progress for all projects is coming to a halt I may still decide to work on things but there will be a month or two of no forum posts, no updates and no progress.
I must leave now, sorry for all delays this will cause.
