So I noticed that cars will shut down, and the check engine light will come on after being submerged in water. Very nice touch. But is there a way where you could have it go on in a bigger crash? Say you go off a jump and land on your front end. If you hit the ground hard and mess up the front end, there is bound to be engine damage. So it would be sweet if on medium-large front end collisions that the check engine light come on. And maybe the engine shut down. It adds so much realism to the game.

The engine does shut down in crashes already.

I've already created some code that will turn the hazard lights on in a crash, so I can add that as well, because sometimes when you crash the crash is not enough to destroy the engine, but that light should turn on to tell you that you should take a look at the engine just in case.

I'd like to remember they have not finished coding the engine yet, more likely those features will come in the future.

There is no proper engine damage yet, so currently the only utilization of the check engine light is going underwater. When we add proper engine damage it'll show up more often ;)

Sweet. Great to know it will be there. Also, I feel like the engine cuts out at an early time when going under water. I was driving the D series truck, and only my right side was in water. The water barely went over the front right fender and the engine shut off. Not even the whole headlight was under. I think that the engine should cut off maybe 3 seconds after you hit the water. That way, if you accidentally hit the water for a brief second, your engine won't die and you have a chance to escape.

    Yeah I understand.

I think the check engine light does appear when you hit something really hard, are are my memories wrong? I definitely have to check that again...

I also seem to recall that the check engine light comes on after you run out of fuel (easily possible with the console).
