An Experimental modification to the combustion engine code that attempts to better simulate the behaviour of carbureted engines. Features: - Engines will struggle to hold idle when very cold or very hot - Simulated choke which will raise idle in cold temps - Choke will reduce max engine power when active - Two types of choke: Manual and Automatic - Manual chokes: toggled with a custom binding - Automatic chokes: activated by a pump of throttle below a certain temp, automatically deactivates above a certain temp. - Current vehicles supported: Piccolina and Burnside.
Your other recent mods are incredible, look forward to trying this on the antarctica map where it's -53C
Well, that was a bit before my time to have them in current production but I have a habit of finding "Good deals" on old vehicles which often has me troubleshooting, tuning, and rebuilding carbs. Speaking of which I wonder if you'd recognize this carb I have a service manual for?
Not a clue. I didn't know there was such a mod. EDIT: I took a look at Zeit's mod and it looks like while it won't crash if run together but it also can't be used together on a vehicle given the different ways we change the combustion engine code.
Tested this out in the cold now and would say that you've managed to emulate/simulate a carbed engine cold start, nice touch with power adjustments with hot engine and choke on. Impressive, and I like it. Would it be feasible ncluded in your T-serieries drive expansion mod (or other/separate engine mods for t series.)?
Probably not. There just really isn't an overlap between this and what the T-series mod so it doesn't make sense to force them together.
very interesting to see this added! --- Post updated --- would be really interesting to see different features added eventually like vaporlock and variables for how carburetors perform/start in cold
Eventually I want to at least try to make a sort of dynamic flood state that can happen if cranked for too long or if it was rolled over but that is gonna be a daunting task to implement. Also IRL the snow is really starting to clear out here so now I'm in full swing fixing IRL Carbs.
I want to at least try to get a flooded state coded in before porting it over to the other appropriate vehicles.
flooded state, haha amazing Please do so. Also Just and idea could you make engines unhydrolockable by cranking them over for a long time?
Maybe. Though I am not a programming expert by any means so I don't know if I can even get a flooded state system working at all.
By a flooded I'm referring to fuel flooding rather than hydro-lock. This is fairly common to happen with a carbed engine if cranked for too long without starting or if flipped over where excessive fuel ends up pooled in the combustion chamber preventing it from firing but still allowing it to turn over. This can usually be cleared out by cranking it for a while with choke off and holding wide open throttle.
Ah ok thanks for the clarification, with flooding i am quite aware how much a pain flooding an engine is.
