    Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I've been using BeamNG for a couple of years. Recently I managed to rig some characters and used them in the game. However, after update 0.17, while importing the characters I realized that the animation is not working. First I thought I made a mistake. But These are the same characters that I used in the previous versions without any issue. After update 0.17 I was never able to use rigged characters. I've tried with a fresh installation (on 2 computers) and fresh new rigged characters. Nothing works. I think there's something missing from the game engine (the zip file in Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive). I've checked the same characters with Torque 3D and they all work fine (see the attachments please).

Please note that they used to be fully loaded and animated while importing the DAE files. However, in the new version they stand still in the game. If you go to inspection, you realize that bone and mesh are separated and all the mesh is at the center of the world.

I don't know if this has been done intentionally or it's just a bug or missing file. However, I wish it could be fixed in the next update. Having all these features in the game engine helps BeamNG Drive to become the next GTA with much better physics.

I really look forward to hear from the developers.

P.S. If anyone has any temporary solution for this, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    DR

It's possible that the mesh optimization broke that unused feature.
Also please note that feature is not used in the main game anywhere, and I believe that the amount of people using that is pretty low.
We will check that, but there are higher priority things on ours hands at the moment.

Thanks for the quick reply. I really look forward to have that feature back when you guys have managed to deal with the priorities. I have a series of BeamNG drive videos on YouTube that are featuring live characters. I think my channel (Demolition Republic) is the only one around this subject. The videos have been viewed by millions of viewers. Time to time I receive comments comparing BeamNG and GTA. I understand that BeamNG's focus is not on characters. But at the same time, I think my channel has some (if not great) influence on promoting BeamNG. For the last video I just used static character models. But with live characters the videos are totally different.

That feature may one day initiate the concept of AI characters in BeamNG to populate the maps, or a third person character getting in and out of the cars and driving them. And many other possibilities like having missions intro played by 3D animated characters, like Driver 1999 PC.

I really appreciate the effort you guys put in developing this game.

    Best,
    DR
