Colors issue when mapping

Hey guys,

Not sure whats happening here, if its me, or if its an issue ingame...
I have just had a play with making my own skin... im using the experimental version of the game.

So i tried to make a skin for the Moonhawk... the original one from the game (I also have the mod)
The skin worked once I had made the base of the car white, as you can see...

However, when i tried to apply the same skin to the Moonhawk mod version of the car, it came out like this... no matter what the base color was...

Sooooooooo what i did next was spawn the original Moonhawk and as soon as that appeared the Modded Moonhawk suddenly also had the correct colors...

Can anyone explain this? is it something bizarre that im doing?, as soon as i spawn an original moonhawk, the colors look awesome, if i then spawn another modded moonhawk, the colors go back to being orange...

Some more pics, nothing to do with this issue, i'm just quite happy with my first skin, although it needs some improvement...
