Hello there, A few months ago I had a small idea.. A community map project. Basically a group of map modders come together a create a huge and detailed map. So my plan was to get together a group of at least 6 people (including me) and start working. I will create a group for it if enough people show interest. Requirements: Of course not every one can get in here. You need to have experience in map modding Making custom objects would be good Custom textures Maybe programming. So if you are interested just write it down. I'll take my time and read it. Further plans will be discussed in the coming group Greets ~NistingurA
Uh, is it ok if we port a map from another game to beamng? i was planning to port the entire gta vice city map to beamng but gave up due to the amount of work required. its way too much to do by myself. If so im interested I have created a map before as well, its Indianapolis so i know how it works, i will be a but rusty since i havent made a map in a while tho.
The GTA vice city is a good idea, I think it's not to big for beamng to work with, I guess you can only port an island for less work, no? . The problem is that I'm not sure if it's legal...
uhhh legal? how about the gta iv airport port? I dont think theres going to be any issues. And the amount of detail the entire map has, im sure beamng will be able to run it without issues, all in one. Idk it was an idea. i have the model and everything but the issue is we have to place every building manually and all that crap. unless someone can script something where it reads the location from gta vc's game files and applies that automatically that shouldnt be an issue. same thing with the textures. Those were the 2 big reason why i gave up, i dont know how to script anything. I still have every model and textures. even if i didnt have them anymore i could easily get them back without issues.
I'm gonna be honest I have no idea of how it's work, but I through you would only have to put the map into blender, import the map to beam, an put texture on, I will check how does it work, but I need to find back my GTA Vice city Cd x)
i have it on steam lol. But no, when you convert the files from vice city into an importable format in blender every objects are in the middle and none of them are placed. gta has its location in its files and when it loads the map it places them on the go. its not as easy as copy paste a texture name and its done, if that would be the case then i wouldve done the map, but every building has like 3+ different materials which require different textures and there are a bit over 1000 models with their own textures and specific placement. none of which is made if you import it in blender like that.
Yeah, its a bit annoying that we cant upload copyrighted models on the repo anymore, but that didnt stop me, ive been making mods and releasing them the old fashioned way on the forum anyways. it would be fun if i could release them on the repo tho.
Oh yeah I get it, most game use a "Rendering map" which look very ugly with on top of that when you get closer to it "Real" object with details ^^
How about the GTA San Andreas map instead? It has better quality that the GTA vice city and has 3 cities
GTA SA? It is such a big map and would take for ever to finish it.. even if we take only one part it's still a lot of work to do.
