What's the general consensus on reusing vanilla vehicle components for the creation of new mod vehicles?

I'm really new to content creation for this game. I like to learn a new process by looking how it's been done already and then begin by copying whatever I'm looking at and modifying it slightly.
So for example, I have here a 2007 Mercedes C class I've been working on for a while. Just the body. I want to try and get it into beamng as my first mod.

I know hardly anything about creating vehicles.

So i thought I could try and reuse the drive train and mechanical components from some of the game's ETK vehicles. The parts look about right. It would give me a headstart (i think).

    Feedback appreciated.

As long as you don't make it shit and rework it, it's fine.

Go to the game's steam files, open up a random vehicle and then get Notepad++ and open the engine.jbeam files and walla.
