Yes, I was indeed talking of the 390X, it's one out of two things that AMD really can get a good performance for nice money out of, also: Yeah, sorry. Damn, keep talking about whatever...

Whow, really nice system. Though I will not buy a water cooling system for myself, they are just way too expensive for my taste.

It's not that hard to get to 4.6, mine is at 4.4GHz with a 212 Evo with dual SP120's and doesn't hit 60C. I could go a bit further with a tiny increase in voltage.

Erm, yeah. You're right. I didn't think about increasing the voltage.

Increasing clocks by itself doesn't make the CPU run much hotter - but it can become unstable if voltage is too low. Increasing voltage on the other hand does make it run hotter and needs better cooling.
If you don't touch the core voltage you can actually get a decent OC on a stock cooler, depends on how much you can raise the clock speed before it starts having issues.

    Ah, thanks for clarifying.
Dude, what would I do without your tips about PC setups and OCing?
EDIT: I know, I'd smoke my CPU off.

In theory, it would still run hotter at the higher frequency. Its just a 10% overclock leading to say 10% increase in heat being kicked out aint all that big a deal, nor is it that linear a relationship, hell I think it would be less than 10% increase in heat output as not every heat producing part of the chip is tied to the multipliers.

Still. Im running a chip drawing 110W from a mobo rated for 95, just the slightest overclock is BSOD.

Try imagining the problems I would have OCing my Processor thats a 140W TDP....I dont feel I will ever overclock this computer....I like to run them for as long as I can...

    Main PC: Intel Core i7 4770k ~ 4,2 GHz
    Second PC: Intel Core i3 2100 ~ 3,1 GHz
    Laptop: Intel Core i5 2410m ~ 2,3 GHz / Turbo 2,9 GHz

Going to get a new CPU for the second PC and a new Laptop soon.

One question: How hot is a stock clocked 5960X with a H110i GT?
Go with an i5. They're worth their money squared.

While I appreciate your concerns for longevity, cooling 140W is pretty doable. You probably would be looking at water cooling though, or an absolute monster of an air cooler. A 120*240mm radiator would probably just about do the trick, may wish to consider going to a 120*360mm setup though or I think 140*280 also exists.
I eventually plan to watercool in this rig, it will take a 180*180, supposedly a 200*200 fits but I think you get motherboard clearance issues, I know a 230mm fan actually fits though.

Currently I am not really stressing it, I am getting average cooling temperatures of about what below 30 Degrees C I havent really pushed it hard yet....but I will eventually and I am using a Fractal Design XL R2 case so I am limited in options for what Radiator I used...

I am running a 280mm rad with twin 140mm fans on it remember its the Corsair H110i GT Extreme I am using here...

Should have some headroom then if you do ever change your mind and overclock.

Ah thanks, if I ever did an OC I wouldnt push it more than 3.5GHz I am no JayztwoCents with Liquid cooling his pcs can go upto about 4.5Ghz with the same processor that I have, but I really dont see the point in voiding a warranty on a 2 month old computer...

Rendering? What kind of rendering do you mean (I no English please sorry)?
