There is local multiplayer already. It's the multiseat thing. But normal online multiplayer is a thing that they are researching but you shouldn't expect it soon and you may refer to the hundreds other threads on this site to get an answer on that topic.

apparently the calculations in RoR is done host side so if there is a way to do it, that is.
