I'm just trying to make my first own map, and I would like to use a 'template', wich I can place on the grid to draw the roads like they appear on the template. After creating the roads, template has to be removed. My template is a real map of a part of a city. Is it possible and how could I do it?
So, if I understand correctly, what you want to do is to project a texture on the ground with the pattern you'd like to follow, and then be able to delete it ? Someone is probably going to post a better and easier method right after me, but here is how I would do it : In a modeling software ( I think Sketchup would be enough), you'll have to create a simple plate, apply the template texture to it and then export it as a 3D object to BeamNG Then in-game you'll have to place this prop right on top of the terrain and you're done (this is assuming your terrain hasn't got much elevation, or the clipping of this plate in the hills of your terrain could become annoying) To erase any trace of the template, you'll just have to delete this prop.
Yes, that's what I mean. The terrain is allmost plain, that will be no problem. Thanks for the tip, I'll try this and post the result here! (I'll just will be struggeling with scales, but nothing impossible)
Well for the scales I think it would be easy using cross-multiplication, if you know the size of a building or how wide is a road, you can easily calculate the width and length in meters of your template, then create a plate that is this size.
