Custom maps are empty when loaded up?

I made 2 maps of my own. both of them were working great and i even shut down my PC a few times in between editing and playing around on them. i started my game up again today and loaded them up like usual... empty. just the stock grid is showing, everything else is gone in both maps. they were created at different times. i go through the files of each map and everything is there. but some reason it doesn't want to load properly and i'm pretty sure i made them post the latest update. Can anyone help me try to recover these maps? or have an idea why this might have happened and if they are gone completely?
