@BDR_Guy and I have been working on a D-series prerunner project. The plan with this mod is to make the gnarliest D-series prerunner ever, with a wheelbase of 124" and a trackwidth of 96", the plan is to make it to trophy truck dimensions (Full TT with a steel cab). Started out by widening the d-series cab +4" to make packaging easier and overall performance better, and created a custom basically trophy truck tube chassis around it. Once we had an idea of where our wheelbase and track width was going to be we added a "One Piece" Front end and Fiberglass bedsides, again of trophy truck dimensions to be able to clear 40s and look sick af. We decided on a "Center Mount" A-arm front suspension and traditional 4-link for the rear end, but it'll have custom 4.5 internal bypass coilovers all around (Robby Shocks). The chassis design was built with strength in mind and is extremely over-built, this truck will end up weighing around 8000 Lbs when its done, specially with the fuel cell size and engine package we want to run. We, somehow, managed to fit two fuel cells (71 gallons for the back one and 64 gallons for the middle one, 131 total usable gallons), and since this truck is supposed to be "period correct" (early 2000s) we decided to go with an old ford small block, probably will end up making 800-900 Horsepower. Dont need that much power since this will be a prerunner truck. Im sure there's more stuff im missing but those are the main details to kind of catch you up with the current progress, we want to post very regularly here... The goal with this mod is to show off a truck totally designed by us (made up) and put it up for free, still not sure on what platform. Thank you.
Working on getting our engine removable! --- Post updated --- Our mid cell is removable through the bottom of the chassis.
Today i have been working on the rear end layout. Stuff like the spare tires, rear wing, jack mount, oil bottles, mud flaps... etc etc... Spare tire mounts, these will swing out using a hydro. Jack and Left Mud Flap mounts. Extra fluids and Right Mud Flap.
Working on getting the shock mounts finalized Also getting bump stops into their final ish locations Spare Driveshaft is nice and tucked away Getting there... Day 4 progress continues I plan on start building out the front end tomorrow. Hub assemblies A-arms, and spindles. This truck will have all custom brakes, bolts, hubs and lug pattern.
Been working on random details. Spare lug nuts and jack handle mount. Did some mock up fueling too, since there's two fuel tanks there will be double the fuel pumps, double the vents and double the fittings... Also made some exhaust pipes and mounted them I think today im gonna do some paneling inside the cab, maybe start on the dash... --- Post updated --- Got side tracked and made some naca ducts as well as a new radiator/fans
Front suspension mock up time. Need to dial in my camber curve and make sure the caster is how I want it. Pulling 25" metal to metal. Will Be strapped at 24" Looking like our 2" stroke secondary bump will live here as a slapper. Steering geometry is under way now
It will be soon enough. We completed the Dual sport buggy mod in 28 days I believe and this should be about the same time line. Depends on what other big projects come up before then. This is sort of a filler mod.
28 DAYS!? holy crap you guys are cookin'. And the Dualsport is THE best buggy mod on the repo rn (in my opinion anyway)
Been working on the main interior features. Dash and shifter mount design Interior storage Rear end paneling and storage Tied a couple loose ends with the fuel system, made a set of geiser dry break/filler neck caps for both fuel cells. Also finished up some heat shields for the mufflers. Its slowly coming together.
Been working on some random interior stuff, not much done tonight. modeled a snap on impact with a cool mount.
The time came to do put the front suspension together after doing mock up and geometry testing. I will make the rack adapter once we start cycling suspension in game.
