I know the D-Series already has the most parts, but I noticed there are a few things it is missing and a few things that are unrealistic. Some of these suggestions could also go for other vehicles such as the Roamer and H-Series 1. 8 Lug Wheels We currently only have one choice for 8 lug wheels (dually wheels). All heavy duty versions (D25 and D35) should have them. We need more choices for 8 lug single rear wheels. 2. 8 Foot Bed At the time the D-series was made, long beds were more popular, especially on regular cab trucks. I know the devs have said they will not add one, but I think would be more realistic. 3. Flares Most 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks came standard with flat flares (not like the off road ones that are already available) since the wheels usually stick out further than 1/2 ton trucks. Flares should also be colorable. 4. More Bed Options 3 things I think would be nice to have are a more realistic flatbed, a dump box, and a rollback. The current flatbed has no taillights, and the rear wheels are not covered. The last two should be easy since they are already available for the T-Series, although they would need modification for the D35, and would also require a longer frame. 5. Sun Visors, Vent Visors, Mudflaps Not really necessary, but more parts are always good. Sun visors were popular at this time, and so were/are vent visors and mudflaps. 6. 4x4 Decals Also not necessary but realistic. Most trucks would have had 4x2 or 4x4 decals on the rear quarters. 7. Stepsides Bed These were very popular at this time, and should be pretty easy to make. It would not require a different frame. 8. Snow Plow Not necessary, but would be fun. This would go nicely with an official winter map. It could also be used on the Roamer, H-series, and T-series (with modifications, larger, wider). 9. Bucket Seats We currently only have a bench seat, bucket seats were becoming more popular in the 90’s. Feel free to add more suggestions, or tell me if I’m asking too much. I will add to this list over time. I know most of this stuff will probably never happen, although I hope the devs will consider some of it.
As I said in the Bluebuck thread, there's a ton that the D-Series can get and deserves to get; it really shouldn't be shorted because of the shortage for other cars. The level of content for existing cars across the board is depressing, especially since they said they want a lot of customization in Over the Horizon. Hopefully they are just waiting for a better time to add stuff since adding content now would be trouble for when updates to the game come (example, many parts would needed changing for the body tweaks the older cars are currently getting). As for your suggestions specifically: Reworking the length of all the frames and allowing the single cab to be put on longer frames should allow for more bed options. A single cab on the crew cab frame would be fine for something like a ramp truck, and a single cab on a modified extended cab short bed frame might be able to fit a long bed. I'm told that it would be strange for a real company to do this, but IMO if the proportions could be reasonable it would be a fair compromise. Something you didn't mention, AFAIK the D-Series' largest engine is very small compared to the lineup that real world counterparts got, that would be nice to see addressed.
Another thing is that I think the D-series looks too new for 1988. It looks more like a mid 90’s design. An easy fix would be to add the pre facelift version starting at 1988 or sooner, and make the current D-series start around 1994 with some small changes. The pre facelift version should have chrome mirrors. Plastic mirrors weren’t on trucks until the mid - late 90’s. Also, the front bumper and grill should be more square. The rest of the truck and interior are good. 1988 The facelifted version should be the current truck, with some changes to the interior. Newer looking dashboard and door pads, and possibly seats. 1995
Wait, the D-Series is supposed to be a 1988 model? I've always thought it was a '95, in fact my default vehicle is a D25 I've made to look like what my mental image is of a 1995 Chevy Silverado 2500. Especially with the Roamer being a '99 or a '00 with it's facelift...
The current D-Series is a facelifted 1980's truck according to Gabe. Plus the Roamer was plopped onto the identical frame, so the current truck's frame spans 3 generations. Add the 2 missing generation D-Series trucks and maybe a Bronco/Blazer equivelant in game and we could see a lot of official content for a single platform. I can only hope.
There is a mod that has a 8ft bed, a mod that adds more 8 lug rims, a mod that adds gooseneck trailer hitches and trailer and bucket seat, but i completely agree with more beds visors decals etc. --- Post updated --- i also think they should add more variation ex; 2016 RAM Trucks and or 1990s RAM trucks, 2017 Ford Trucks and or 90s ford trucks, and a modern SUV wouldn't hurt neither. Id really enjoy a Suburban 2500 or a offroad Kia suv, some work trucks, and more SMALL 4WD Jeeps like the liberty or patriot
I am aware of the mods, but I would prefer official versions. Also, I’m pretty sure some of them are outdated, and will most likely never be fixed.
True. The only truck that ever did this was the 1997-2003 Ford F-series, and having been in the back of the extended cab one once as a child, I can say with some certainty that there is a reason most companies didn't do it that way. If I remember correctly that extra foot-and-a-half weren't even enough to put real seats in it. The current lineup is alright for the half-ton, although perhaps later versions of the engines (Roamer etc.) should get a little more power each. However there should be: -Diesel variants of D25 -An NA Diesel -A bigger gasoline engine for at least the D35 Also, finally giving it some racing suspension would be nice. The "Sport" parts are still stock parts and still sit fairly high for a serious build; someone's mod gives it a lowered suspension but it's nonadjustable and the setup is kind of a mess for fast driving.
I was actually coming here thinking about posting a similar thread. I've been playing around with minor mods to the D-Series platform but I'm definitely nowhere close to a point where I could take on a project of this magnitude. I'm glad to see that there are others thinking the same way. Hopefully this will get the attention of the devs and/or inspire those more capable to solve some more of these things with mods. My personal wishlist would be a D-Series line that can approximate any significant configuration you can buy a modern full-size truck in. Long beds, ultra-short-bed crew cabs, meaningful off road packages, "45" class pickups, chassis cabs with varying wheelbases (and bodies to put on them of course), wide-track front axles, etc. According to Wiki this was done from 1997 through 2014, three generations of the F-150. The '97-03 and '09-14 trucks also put the 5.5' SuperCrew on the same chassis. You do seem to be right though that no one else did it. Honestly I thought it was more common of a thing until actually looking in to it. My parents have a 2012 F-150 SuperCab and while it's certainly not somewhere I'd want to spend a long trip it was perfectly fine to haul six adults to/from dinner a few times.

The geometry just gets too far off when you lower it and race adjustable parts won't fix it.
Another suggestion: Gavril D45 - D65 A medium duty D-Series based on the Chevy Kodiak/GMC TopKick/C40 - C60. This would fill the void between the D35 and T65. It would use the same cab and interior as the current D-Series, with a heavier frame and larger hood and grille. Would most likely require multiple different frame lengths, and could have 2 and 4 door cabs. Some possible upfits include: Dump Truck/Plow Truck Flatbed/Stake Bed Box Truck Bucket Truck Rollback/Wrecker Tanker Fire Truck/Ambulance School Bus Pickup

Hey, here's an idea, can we make the parking brake actually lock the rear wheels up when you are driving in 4wd? works fine in 2wd, but in 4wd it's almost like the parking break has ABS. It stops the truck at least twice as quickly.
