installed the game on a clean version of windows, my hdd recently failed.
downloaded one mod only, car jump arena
tried making my own map before the update
updated, noticed texture issue, cleared cache, didnt work, uninstalled, didnt work, uninstalled again deleted folder in "documents" made sure steam game folder was empty.
    reinstalled
    still getting dark textures.
a lot of the textures look different to me in the update (apart from the darkening issue that is apparent
like they have a higher contrast or saturation, the tire textures are grey instead of black

you can see in the first screenshot that the bridge is the right color still but the road is dark
in the second you can see a weird darkened grass texture alongside the road

It's because you are using the Lowest settings.
Some things won't be rendering correctly as such low resolution.
    Try Low at least

its the lighting quality, lowest setting gives the bug.

"Turn it up" is not a real fix, I've been playing for years, these dark textures aren't normal and when you've gone from playing the game at 9 fps to 14 fps in the last 5 years its nice to get any performance update, that being said, with the lighting setting turned up from what I've had it at for the past 3 or so years fps is about the same with boosts in some places and 12 fps on the new map (honestly amazing with its size)
but with the lowest lighting quality the fps boost wile small is 2 fps, at 14 fps this is very noticeable

I KNOW I'M AN EXTREME CASE. I'm stuck on this laptop until my life is more stable.
but i doubt that textures darkening like this is how you meant the lowest setting to look like, random darkened textures scattered around on your maps.

this fix works for now and is more than acceptable, but if you don't plan on fixing it, just remove the option all together having a graphics option that is bugged is worse than no option, even if it gets me 2 fps i cant even play the game with it looking like that

Thank you, I know. I run many games at lower frames than many could even stand. I don't have the money to buy anything better right now, but I get by and I love beamng enough to play it at 12 - 14 fps.

Sorry, I did not meant it's correct.
We need to check this (in the update's thread it's mentioned already) :)

thanks, the loss is minimal but its still a loss in fps hope its an easy fix, and just a suggestion as well, particle effects enable/disable option it would mean worlds to smooth gameplay (even if its 14 fps) not having the clouds of dust drop you down to 5 fps. (I did this before by going into the effects and disabling by making the size/amount 0's)
