I love playing this game at night. But I couldn't help wondering what it would be like if it was as dark as it is when you drive at night in real life. You can still see the road clearly even without the headlights on. Another thing that would be cool is if when you put the headlights on, the area not covered by the headlights got even darker. This would make the nights feel more ambient and dangerous to drive in.
    Just a thought :D

It's possible to make the night completely dark with some settings in the terrain editor.

In Dry Rock Island for example, hide "SkyBox" and set time to 0.75 or so. Then in "sunsky", set nightColor and moonLightColor to 0 0 0 (if you want totally dark). The sea still has some strange glow, enabling fullReflect in "Ocean" makes it less distracting. Maybe there's some other setting that gets rid of all the glow.

While it's interesting to drive like that, I prefer some moonlight and a bit of ambient light. In reality there would be some reflected indirect light that isn't simulated in Torque, so the ambient is a compromise for that.
