WIP Beta released Death Road 1.1

    Updated for 0.8+
    -Terrain textures adjusted for more natural look
    -Tons of hand painted terrain texture fixes
    -Adjusted a few roads
    -Thinned out vegetation in some spots
    -Added noise to runway surface
    -Adjusted lighting
    -Fixed missing guard rail textures

    Resumed development of the map since the editor has been improved vastly since the last time I used it. Going to be working on general polish and expansion of the trail network. Feedback and criticism very much welcomed. Here's some quick progress since the update:

    thats looks so dangerous...and thats how I like it :D but really awesome job I cannot wait to get the full release of this map!

    This looks like it's going to be extremely entertaining :) Nice work on the roads; the bumpiness looks appropriate but not overdone, and the curves look nicely engineered.

    This looks incredibly exciting! Are the dirt roads going to have subtle ruts, pot-holes, and noise?

    Thanks! Glad to see people like the idea. It's slow going because I had no idea L3DT had better 3D editing tools until recently. The issue I'm having is the cursor jumping around the map sometimes when using a heightmap tool, really bad if your using the flatten tool. I have tons of little flat circles I'm finding around the map, which is taking up alot of time to fix.

    Anyway, here's a screenshot.

    I had that problem as well, i found that if you look down at the terrain it stops it from happening, as opposed to looking at the side of a hill or along the ground.

    And looking great btw, good to see others making some off road stuff:)

    Yeah I was noticing that, it also seems especially bad with tools that really change the height alot. Thanks man, your proving grounds map inspired me to start making trails.

    I also noticed that it glitches more when you go over where the terrain tiles(the lines when looking through the terrain).

    Glad to know i inspired someone to do something:eek:

    Rest stop/view point pretty high up the old death road. Also making a paved road up into the mountains that is a little more tame, but has quite steep grades.

    Near the unfinished airfield, I'd say the map is ~50% complete at this point. Slowly plugging along.

    Thanks Kilo! This is probably my favourite map. Haven't played it yet, but by the screenshots, it's way better than anything I've seen. (Other than default maps.) :D
