So... Today I went to the Detroit auto show, has anyone else gone? If so what are your thoughts? I thought that quality in cars varied, GM and other companies introducing new gen models had decent quality, ford being an exemption, probably because of their two continent designs. Other companies with mid to late cycle designs had really poor quality in materials and build quality.
Ford are moving towards global designs at least. The fusion in north america is now a rest of world mondeo rebadged and I suspect in the next few years they will rebadge either the mondeo or the fusion so one name covers both vehicles (considering they will be identical). The humble ford transit, common outside of north america and basically the backbone of the british working man is now being sold in north america, although in a reduced number of configurations :/ Makes sense to me anyway, I cant see the point in having to maintain so many models under 1 manufacturer when some of them serve the exact same purpose. Ranger will be the same variant across continents too. I havent bought any car magazines recently nor do I like reading about cars online for some reason so cant say I have followed the rest of the industry too closely.
