They might remove groups, now they remove members tab.... Are they killing the forums? Kinda,in my opinion.
1. like 70% of groups are inactive 2. groups slow down the forums 3. uh, start a group DM instead 4. the members tab just showed leader boards, most notably the 'mods' one which showed who had the most mods. it made people want to make more mods which meant less quality and more quantity.
I think removing the members tab was kinda unnecessary, but I wish they can at least add back the ability to search up members which was really helpful. --- Post updated --- Also the signature length limit is SUPER strict
Changing, not killing, change is opening possibilities. I'm quite sure they have more experience from running forums than what I do, so I try to trust them and see hopefully improved forums next year. It takes time to see what changes will really bring, it is way too early to say much about it, but we can be sure of one thing, they really don't want to kill forum, they want everyone to have pleasant experience on forums.
Well, the removal of member lookup is kind of annoying, but otherwise I really don't care about the removal of the members tab.
I always used that to look up who has birthday, and to write them a little message. That was always cool and I miss this feature...
The "Members" section was useless, but for the groups, why delete them? I know that some of the groups -Including mine- are not used, just remove the groups that have been inactive for 3 months or more. Plenty of groups are useful.
Then put a little "Cake" icon on the profile picture of someone that has it's birthday, and send a notification if you follow him.
