personally i thought discontinuing scion was a waste because there was so much potential with the brand what about you?
It was misguided from the start. Their target market drive $900 Corollas, not brand new $30,000 hatchbacks. Sure, it could have been good if Toyota did things differently, but it wasn't making any money how it was.
Scion was introduced in 2001 by Toyota, hoping to appeal to younger audiences. But their plan backfired, and Scion's last ditch effort was the FRS. Since people just got BRZs instead, Toyota ditched Scion and left it to die in 2016. Now, the Scion FRS lives on as the Toyota 86.
Scion shouldn't have existed in the first place. You can't sell a brand new car to a demographic that can barely afford a 25 year old beater.
Scion was made for a stupid reason I mean young people in pre and post 9/11 America would of bought a Toyota anyways. Did they really need younger people to buy there cars, that's like GM need their trucks appeal to more Rednecks. Also this is off topic but those things rust like a mother fucker well at least in Northern America
I think if they had gone a different route then no, but they kind of did it to themselves in the end...The TC should have been updated to be less obviously targeted towards a very young audience and made to look more of a coupe than a hatch, then sold in a convertible form, too. The xB should have remained instead of being replaced by the iM (which was obviously just a Corolla hatch), but it should have been redesigned to fight the Focus and new Civic. They should have received the Toyota C-HR. The Yaris iA should not have been a rebadged Mazda 2, but instead it should have been better equipped and designed to fight the Fiesta and Elantra. Essentially, I feel like if they were a sport-economy geared subsidiary, rather than a youth-geared (but not youth priced) economy brand, then they would have done better.
