Can you imagine literally BILLIONS of particle positions being calculated every milisecond and every pixel of the car skin having to be recolored in real time based on them? Just no. Not even a supercomputer would be able to run something that is so laggy.

Bruh soft terrain would lag even more, it would have to simulate the WHOLE terrain which can be extremely large on some mod maps and also it's huge on Italy map

games like forza and grand turismo can do that because they have preset levels of dirtiness on the car, and plus, they don't have any softbody simulation so they can get away with that

I think something like that can work. Take GTA:V for example, it (as far as I know) uses a preset model. I would be content with that, multiple models with different shades of dirt would nice to have. This would be used when going through mud pits. I don't make games so I have no clue if this would be hard to pull off or not, If I'm forgetting something I would like to know.

Pretty much all games that have the ability to make your vehicles dirty are a hard-body engine as they can just pretty much tell the engine what dirt texture to apply at what part of the body after a certain amount of time. Something like that in BeamNG maybe could be possible, altough knowing the devs, they would want to make it as real as possible while still keeping it fun & not annoying
