So we have a cooking thread, why not a DIY home improvements thread. So i'll kick start it with kind of a thought on reducing electric bills, at the moment the Blue room (as i call it) isn't really heated too well, it's got a radiator, but it's at the end of the CH loop and the CH isn't on during the day (gas fire in living room used), so an expensive convector heater is used most of the time. There is a gas heater (looking decidedly beige) but it hasn't been working, we all assumed it was a poor quality inefficient beast that was pretty unreliable anyway, but i found some documentation and it's a balanced flue heater with ~74% efficiency!! So for next winter we will definitely get the heater working to cut the bills a bit, as electric costs 3-4x more than gas per kw. Whilst looking stuff up about gas boilers etc. i found this scary beast isn't it? Also had a re-decorate in the office room using carpet tiles, I think they are pretty cool, if one gets spilt upon then you can replace one tile, and laying the carpet is much nicer as it's not one massive piece, just split up. It's not as thick and isn't like a rug in terms of bristle length but it does make the office chair much easier to wheel about.
Wait... no one has posted in here?!? I guess I will. Here's a couple tips I could rattle off the top of my noggin. -always lock your house when leaving. -when leaving for a long while, lower the thermostat to save yourself some moola. -make sure to do a general inspection of your house every now and then. (like once a month or so) -before mowing, always check for stuff that would go flying (like rocks and wood chunks, etc.) -can't think of any others...oh yeah, stay ORGANIZED. cmon let's keep this thread alive. by the way, you're welcome @Michaelflat.
If your on a higher floor, don't leave water on the floor, that shit seeps through floors like acid, my grandmothers house had a hole as wide as a broomstick because the tub water kept seeping out Oh yeah, make sure you tub doesn't have a hole
You think that's ghetto, for the first 6 years of my life, the school playground was a tether ball pole known as 'Jessie's pole' and a plastic platform with a rusty slide... And then schools got funding...
Yesterday I removed the swing portion off my swingset/ clubhouse thing because the monkey bars that are a part of the structure broke when I climbed on them and I weigh just over 100 lbs so if it broke while a little kid was on it then they would get hurt so now it is a club house with a slide and a fire pole
How the hell is water supposed to go threw 20 cm of concrete? Will post some stuff I've added to my room later.
water will eventually win over any material known to man. Literally anything eventually. (maybe more than human lifetimes but still will win). That is pretty neat Also you won't have to worry about spiders etc. in the gaps now Yes i did buy some RGB for my computer desk https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077ZT27JF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Pretty good but the USB end is nowhere near any sockets, so I am powering it off a powerbank (so i need to charge it every now and then). But what i have found is that it can make a coil whine noise when dimming (on a cheap powerbank); some PWM i'm guessing. But on a more expensive powerbank (one with 12V jumpstart) it works fine at all brightness levels. Pictures will come when I have tidied my room (which will most likely be never )
You just wait and see You obviously have never had a Canadian winter, or know how potholes are formed...
I remember seeing a road local to where I live and the state repaved it a few years back and it's already got a few small patholes.
Potholes here get huge, what state are you in, to get tiny potholes after a few years? Somewhere tropical, or warm, I assume
People down here love to drive fast and sometimes aren't careful... it could be worse! Honestly, I'm used to it.
