Like the title says, would it even be possible? I have zero idea on the logistics. I'm sure the idea has been considered before.
I think it would be possible. FidelityFX is supposed to be easier to implement than DLSS. It would also be better because more people can use it, not just people with NVIDIA RTX graphics cards but also people with APUs and older AMD / NVIDIA cards.
I've seen another game implement DLSS in 1 day. NVIDIA provides a pretty nice package and tutorial, so hopefully we will see DLSS in BeamNG in the future!
FidelityFX and DLSS require DX12 Ultimate. BeamNG (and many, many other titles) uses the older DX11 API. Making BeamNG run on DX12 would kill off support for users with older but not obsolete hardware. I have yet to see the Vulkan API properly support DLSS/FFX. Honestly, if your system can't run BeamNG, it can't take real advantage of these technologies.
Isn't DLSS only for RTX series cards? AMD's FidelityFX would be a much better option, as while it isn't as good in terms of performance, it supports (almost) any GPU with Shader Model 5.0, so at least up to GTX 10xx series.
That's what I figured. I was hoping they would eventually support Vulkan fully. The future is still bright for gaming. I don't have issues with running Beam but having a lot of traffic does mess with my FFB due to FPS fluctuation.
DLSS 3.0 will come out this month with the release of RTX 4xxx cards and it's even more effective Hopefully BeamNG devs will implement it soon
I don't see DLSS being that useful at least for the amount of work it would be to add it. It's only for RTX cards and anyone who has an RTX card shouldn't have any issues running the game. Most people are CPU bottlenecked anyway. DLSS 3.0 could work, but that's a lot of work for only people with RTX cards.
dlss could be useful for people with rtx cards who want to spawn 40 cars --- Post updated --- steelorse did it in a vid and he was around 20 fps, with a 3090 ti 64 or 32 gb of ram, ddr4 or ddr5 i don't remember, but it's stil the best you can get until the 12th
