Do spoilers/aero lose effectiveness when you lose them?

Do the spoilers and wings lose effectiveness after they fly off? I'm curious because I have a few track cars I've made and occasionally I'll knock the spoiler off but still try to finish the lap. Does it make any difference in the car's handling and performance once I lose those bits? I'd imagine so, as I've seen this demonstrated in various games, some of which, like GTA 5, isn't even necessarily realistic car game. Thanks.

 

Yes, spoilers and wings are Jbeamed in vanilla vehicles and Automation vehicles, if you break them off you'll lose whatever downforce they were giving you.
