Just wondering how many use a wheel. I personally will not play a car game without one. I have a playseat and a crappy Mad Catz MC2 wheel. And it works pretty good. Maybe a slight delay in turning on Beamng, but I havent messed around with the dead spot much. More than anything else changing the gravity makes the game much more real and allows me to drive and not roll around so much. I have considered buying a better wheel, but keep putting it off. The MC2 works with everything I have on Xbox 360 and pc except one crappy indie game that I paid $5 for and do not play. And I dont know if I want to be fighting force feed back anyway. I play: Fuel Flatout2 and NCG Race Rally (or whatever its called the pc game they released on Xbox 360) The Dirt games, Collins rally Forza and of course Beamng Many Others I have tried
I have a DFGT, i use it sometimes for beam, but until there is force feedback and other options for it i will barely use it. (Linearity, Deadzone, Steering ratio etc.) But yeah FFB is a big must for me, especially if its being competitive around tracks.
no, i use an xbox controller. a wheel is currently a disadvantage in beamng. a controller gives better throttle and brake control (imo) which is more important than steering precision at this time. i own multiple wheels and of course i use them in other games, wheels are far superior to controllers in most games. they're just not very good in this game without force feedback.
I do play racing games, but do not consider myself a serious competetor, at some point I proably will get a ffb wheel. Having a wheel and the playseat, just plain makes it more fun, imho.
I have a g27 that will continue collecting dust until ffb. I find RoR awesome with it. Makes me think that once Drive has ffb, I'll be blown away.
Ive never played RoR, but how does the FFB work when you crash? like does it jerk the wheel all over and what not, does the steering 'disconnect' if the linkage is broken? just something ive always wondered
Nope. I use a wireless Xbox 360 controller for all driving/racing games. I want a wheel but I'd rather have other things like a new keyboard, GPU, mouse, etc. The Xbox controller really isn't that bad, especially compared to keyboard control. I used to have a cheapo gameport NASCAR wheel that I got free on Craigslist. One hand pedal never worked and I broke off the gas pedal.
Currently using a 360 controller because the G27 is too big to have set up on my desk all the time and gets in the way of work.
I use a 360 controller. I had my wheel working at one point, but I can't be arsed to recreate an input map right now.
I use my G27 set to 900. At the moment though with no force feedback I don't use it very often for beamng.
I have a Driving Force GT but I'm not really sure if it'll work, although I'd love to use it. Does BeamNG actually have wheel support or do you have to make an input map with the wheel software? The DFGT is PC compatible but the software seems awful, I just can't get the input mapping to work, I only use it on fully compatible games. I'll try to get the wheel working but until then I'm using a PS3 Controller
I use a G27, I try and adjust the degree of rotation to match the current car I'm driving. I use the rally covet most of the time and from what I can tell its 540 degrees apposed to the covet sport at 900. I would also like it if the degrees of rotation would change automatically with the car you are using. There is nothing worse than seeing steering wheel in game and the wheel in your hand not moving in sync. I love driving with manual gears in the inside view. I also love slotting it into reverse at 50 MPH, red lining it and dropping the clutch lol. I really cant wait for FFB though. If done properly it will bring the game to life. It will be fun when the wheel gets yanked out of your hand when you bump up a curb or clip something at the right angle. In theory you should be able to make a track with the correct amount of banking and at the right speed the car would steer itself without you toughing the wheel, that would be cool! Also with the current pre-update handling I would expect the steering to go light in the covet when going straight and approaching the red line in third and fourth gear as it tends to veer about without any warning/reason :/ I cant wait until tomorrow when the update should be released (if all goes well) to see what the new handling is like! (Disclaimer) My views on handling are purely my own potentially delusional thoughts and may not represent real life.
I've got a driving force gt. It takes too much space on my table and makes a lot of noise. When i happen to play a driving game, i grab my controller instead. Also, I've made a clutch and H shifter configuration for the controller in euro truck simulator, which is a lot of fun
I have a keyboard, and loved using it since day 1 :| I have a few controllers I could use, but of-course an input map would be required, which are not default, lol I've always wanted a wheel for BeamNG, but, meh. More important things to buy; for instance, monstrous amounts of soft-drink
regarding the G25/G27...which is better, keeping price in mind. One is better, but one is cheaper...seeing a lot on eBay, so there is no shortage. One other question, does the G25 stick shift also have a 6 position H pattern shifter?
