I have an old Dell Vostro 3500 which I stopped using after I got a desktop. The Dell needed new thermal paste, so instead of going out and buying some, I decided too make some out of toothpaste because I've seen it done before. Shortly afterwards, the laptop seemed to be having issues with booting up until it didn't boot up at all and I had no idea what was wrong with it until I opened it up and everything seemed wet and I immediately thought of the toothpaste and it had melted. I took the CPU out and this is what it looked like because it had caused the CPU to rust and a lot of the pins had come off: So what ever you do, don't you use anything but real thermal paste(In case you didn't know this already).
Thank you! I really needed this wonderful piece of information! Now I learned that toothpaste is not thermal paste lmao
