Hi, When you respond to spambots, you're boosting the threads. If you go to "What's new?" the spambots threads' will be much higher up, and more visible because people actually write a reply. If they were to be ignored, they would be a lot less annoying as they wouldn't be on page 1 for too long. What should you do? Report the threads, and move on to something else. Don't respond. They aren't real people, it's a bot. They won't see your reply, or attempt to insult China. Here's an example: And the ones without reply, is already further back on page 2 rather than page 1 Thank you!
They tend to appear early morning/middle of the night US time, not often but here and there, and are gone by morning. I have only actually seen them once or twice before they are swiftly deleted.
Late response since I didn't see this thread the first time, but: the reason I try to insult China and post Tank Man/Pooh images is because I'm trying to get this site blocked in China so the bot farms can't post here anymore. Annoyingly, however, either it doesn't work with hotlinked images or the bot farm has a VPN.
That may very well get rid of the bots... But then what about the chinese people who are on this site that aren't spambots ?
bro if you think that these farms are affected at all by china bans and that your tank man and winnie the pooh images actually make any difference then lmao
Wasn't actually my idea to start with. The first time a few people (including me) actually switched to Pooh avatars just in case he came back.
Stop that. That's not very nice. Just like you can't say all Florida man are lunatics, all Colorado people uses bulldozer to ram other people's houses down, and all California people stole tanks, rob banks, burning in mountain fires and smoke w**ds (no offense to anyone), you can't assume that all Chinese are spam bots. You can get a wall and say "haha covid people and spam bots go brrrrrr" but that doesn't change the fact that most of the people behind the spam bots got VPN. So they will keep coming back. And again. And again. And again. Also you will piss off a whole lot of Chinese people (including me) that only want to enjoy this gorgeous game. Is a lose-lose scenario. I think that we can stop getting walls, and tryna get the dev to get a way that if someone post more then 10 threads right after he/she created the account. That's the way of getting this thing to an end peacefully. And thank you for your patience for hearing me out.
Ironically when we get spam posts im very often awake and see it happening live, new spam thread every few minute. I report his user profile and then one forum post as i dont feel i should spam reports for all threads. Altho i sometimes wish i had some admin privileges... this website would stay way cleaner of those. Id delete their account probably within minutes of posting the first big college scam thread. It always begins with a dumbass thread with random numbers on it, and a few minutes after more weird number test/spam and then the real college/university diploma scam starts happening again... Its really annoying as i can see it happen at least once a month usually.
I'm usually not very active on this website as much as I used to, I have never seen a spam thread before on this website. Maybe once or twice but I can't remember.
As someone who was born, raised, and still lives in Florida, I can confirm that statement is inaccurate. I haven't met someone who has lived here for longer than 2 years that isn't at least slightly a lunatic. As for the issue with the spambots, I don't think there is anything anyone can do, other than shutting down the companies that create them or destroying the servers that host them. Its just something that I think we as a community should just ignore and let the moderators deal with. Theres no point in replying to the bots because they obviously disregard laws and likely use VPNs. Of course, if you guys want to waste your time replying to them, then go ahead. I don't see the point.
The forums have seen bot accounts spamming fake diploma scams whatsoever in the past, and based on the recent replies, I'm assuming it happened again. Either way, this proves that there needs to be a more active moderation around the time the bots flood the forums (all of the spam that I saw in the past usually took place in evenings where I live). But from what I've heard, the moderators cannot prevent such spam from taking place to begin with due to software limitations. Nevertheless, I would simply report the bot account and whatever threads said account created rather than replying to them; the spam would be dealt with by the time I wake up the following day. The following video proves that this has happened on multiple forums, so it's not limited to just the BeamNG community:
when the community is braindead enough to need telling that a spambot does not care what you respond to it
That bot still comes up a lot, it's at more or less the same time whenever it shows up it is taken down after an hour or two, which would be why users in some time zones don't realize it's still showing up somewhat regularly
That's actually a good one because those words means Diploma and I don't think anyone who is actually human will use these words in Chinese (or any other language) in a car game forum. Edit: except the Dodge Diplomat, that might be a problem lol.
