There should be a button on the main screen that shortcuts you to the mods websites. Also when you download a mod it shouldgo directly into the beamng drive folder.
You mean the forums? That's the only place you should be getting mods from. http://www.beamng.com/threads/12607-The-Difference-Between-Quality-and-Low-Quality-Mods That would be difficult to implement, and the devs need to work on other things first. It's really not that hard to install mods right now.
When you download the files the web browser is going to put them wherever you tell it to put the files. The game can't exactly take the files as you download them and put them in the game, unless a feature was added that made the game scan your downloads folder and get mods, which would be cool. Or you can just save the .zips in your mods folder or set it as your default download location.
As far as I'm aware, steam workshop will be implemented one day, making mod installation extremely easy, if you play the game on steam.
It's best to get mods from the forums here, they are better quality and you are supporting BeamNG.drive not some Russian site where mods were stolen from the forums and not given credit to great modders. Next time get mods from the forums
Yes, although all content on that website and similar modding websites is in English. You can still find evidence of the translations from the very badly-written mod descriptions. Here's an example from one of their descriptions of a mod:
The giveaway is that they call cars/vehicles fashions (this has to do with translation, not that they call cars: fashion)
Its better to download from the forums, because of quality. At the same time, The rate of mods being released is almost at a standstill. So now its down to preference; Do you want a mod that is High quality, and is most likely going to load in game? Or do you want a mod that is a stolen mesh and was slapped on a covet or GM jbeam. I used alot of the Russian sites because by then I literally found all the mods that I wanted from the beamNG forums, and wanted to see whats out there. And that was not exactly a great idea. Not all Russian mods are bad, although from personal experience with them, They take meshes from other games(At-least the City Car Driving modding community does, and that is not the only community doing it.) Some of these meshes are high quality, but are stolen and are a low quality in terms of physics. Now getting to the point, MOST Russian mods are not forum quality. Here are 2 examples; Take this one mod for example; 1975 Ford LTD. Its from a russian site, and has what appears to be a good jbeam. Now, Lets crash into a pole. The front quarter panels bend and bend out. Lets crash again, this time on a different angle. Boom. You crash, and the quarter panel still bends outward. Why? Its the model. The model may not have good poly flow, thus there are not enough deformation squares in the model, thus leading to a constant bend outward from the same spot. Not realistic. Next, we have the 1964 Ford T-bird. Yet another Russian mod. However, this time it's jbeam is the GM, unmodded, and the car doesn't even fit on it. When you crash this, Once you make contact with an object vita the jbeam, The whole model that was affected by the impact will be sucked onto the jbeam. This can cause some bad and nasty glitches. And again, far from realistic. Downloading Russian mods is a gamble. You never know if they are high quality or not. You can also get viruses from it, so its best to have great virus protection.(Or don't do it at all.) If you know what to look for, you can look up videos on the YouTube and look for the following in the mod Good jbeam Good deformation Realistic handling If all of those seem to match up, then its a decent quality mod, thus you will enjoy crashing it or driving it. Some Russian mods are so close to being forum quality, but the only things holding them back are; Bad deformation(Even with a good jbeam, its still can be bad.) Unrealistic handling. Full of viruses and other nasty stuff They are Russian and no one can see the good qualities of them. You should run a virus scan with things like Malwarebytes and a few other really strong virus protection programs, because you probably have a bot or another virus from this. Russian sites give viruses. Learned that back when I downloaded mods for City Car Driving. All of them were on depositfiles and were full of bad stuff. I miss Rigs of Rods... There were a lot of mods on the forums and in the repository. Never had to download one mod from an outside source.
Oh, yes. I always forget about the plans for the repository... That will be a nice feature. Thanks for correcting me.
