While running the previous 0.3.7.6 version of the game I could run everything on High (mesh, texture etc) and according to fraps I was running around 40~50fps. It was not perfectly smooth but it definitely did not hinder the enjoyment of this game.

But as soon as I installed 0.3.7.7 patch(NO change was made to my computer, did not even install any new program), my fps drops to single digit!:( Even if I set everything to Low, my framerate could not get over 18fps. Which renders this game un-playable.

The only way get things going is to set everything at Lowest, which will interestingly rockets the FPS up to 70~80 range. But the graphic is so cruel to all the effort the Dev team put in this game I simply can not stand playing the game at Lowest graphic setting.

I am no hardcore gamer, I hardly play games but I love Beamng. here is the brief spec of my laptop

    windows 8 pro 64bit
    i7-3610QM 2.3Ghz
    Nvidia GTX660m with latest driver
    8GB ram
    samsung 256gb SSD

I really appreciate the Dev teams diligent effort on improving the game. But I do hope to seek solution to this FPS reduction issue or if there is a way to downgrade the game to the previous 0.3.7.6 version.

    EDIT*
The graphic issue that I have encountered in the 0.3.7.7 patch have been completely fixed by 0.3.7.8 patch!

Not only did the graphic issue have been repaired, the game actually ran better when it was in 0.3.7.6. Thank you so much for the Dev Team's continuous effort of perfecting this awesome game.

Did you check to see if any of your settings had been tampered with by the update? I got an FPS increacement when I updated BeamNG... Atleast with the default cars.(moonhawk and the semi truck still murder my PC when I select it.)

Do you check if your system has not change your default gpu (integrated) instead of high performance , because i suppose you have two gp in your laptop ?

This is very strange, as the update did not change any physics or graphics, so this shouldn't happen.

Since you say that setting the game to lowest increased your framerate, this leads me to think you have PostFX enabled. The new updates have enabled postFX by default and therefore eat lots of frames on low-end to medium systems. When you set the shading to Lowest, it forces SSAO to be disabled and this would easily triple your framerate.

To fix this, open the options with Ctrl + O and on the left of the screen you'll see the PostFX manager, just disable all of the effects. I highly suspect this will fix your problem.

Thank you for your reminder, I did accidentally ran the game with the integrated graphic card before but it's so laggy it's like doing maybe 0.5FPS so I won't make the same mistake again lol

I appreciate your pointers. Unfortunate for me though, disabling the PostFX did not change the slow FPS issue : (

Also as a side note, the there is no fps/graphic issue to other games that I am playing. I still believe there is something wrong in the graphic set up that cause the slowdown in Beanmg.

Is there a way to reverse back to the previous patch?

As i understood theres been some changes/updates to parts that got to do with physics (pressurewheel etc). This might lead to more pressure on your CPU. Other games use the graphics alot more then the cpu, in Beamng thats not the case, due to the awesome jbeam system needing alot of calculations done on the go.

    EDIT:

You're running a system comparable to mine and i have not felt there is a loss in FPS. Though i seem to have some more microstutter, which i guess got to do with Vsync, so you might want to change that and see what happens?

Hello, i have the same problem, I get stutters like I never had before. I disabled post fx, HDR and SSAO but the only result i got from it is a bad and ugly graphics while stutters continue to goes on. That makes the game barely unplayable.. atleast less interesting.

My hardware settings are as follow: I7-4770K@3.8 ghz, GTX 780TI and 16 gig of ram.

**Nervermind, I update the graphic driver and now it's ok. damn..

They're not gone, you just have to set them up right. Takes a less than a minute.

Just scroll through this thread, http://www.beamng.com/threads/12277-My-Mods-Are-Gone

Darn. If your rig is getting some stutters then I am not surprised in anyway that mine is runnning uber low FPS:(
