Up until the latest update I had been using a standard engine with the minimum rpm set to 0 and an electric Torque curve. With the recent 0.8 update the game shuts off the engine when it reaches 0 rpm which is understandable for combustion engines. Since the 0.8 update what is the "correct" (official or current workaround) way to implement them? Cheers for any help
Use the available "electricMotor" device Not sure right now if it's documented in the wiki, but the usage is very similar to the combustion engine. Take a look at the source file in lua/vehicle/powertrain/electricMotor.lua to see the supported params etc.
