So, we finally have an EULA to make sure BeamNG is protected against possible legal issues and, in this way, continue to exist in the future.

Since we are all gamers as well, we tried to make it as friendly as the lawyer allowed us.

Please read it carefully and voice any concerns you have.

(It is also online available under: http://store.steampowered.com/eula/284160_eula_1)

Cool. I just want my license plate to say beamng, doesn't seem like there will be a problem with that.

Is it allowed to go to content/vehicles or levels and copy uv skin stuff and other stuff that you need for modding ?

Do you care about grammatical errors? It is very minor, but I found one.

You have a quite a few sentences that end in a period, but the following word doesn't have a space between itself the period.

    e.g.
    BeamNG.BeamNG vs BeamNG. BeamNG

This problem can be easily fixed by using the find and replace tool to replace all of those errors.

Here's how I did it, granted there is probably a more efficient way to do this, but it works.

You can install it on multiple computers, but only run one instance at the same time per license you bought.

I am not going to do this for obvious reasons ( I love all the devs) but if I put the files on a USB stick and sold it to my mate with a crack, what kind of sentence would I get? I would like to stress again that I would never do this.

this is common to eula's for all games. When you buy a license to any game you buy a license for you personally to use it not your brother. It should therefore be impossible for you to be playing it twice at once

It only affects content uploaded from the 1st of June. However, why do you ask?

Yeah, if BeamNG gets sued, that's just the end of PC gaming as we know it.

I've gone ahead and compiled a list of pieces of the EULA that I strongly disagree with as a content creator.

So I can't say "Don't mod my content" anymore?

So if my computer, which is my livelihood, dies due to a virus distributed with BeamNG, you can just throw your hands up and say "It wasn't us!" because I'm expected to back up several terabytes of data?

Why would I defend BeamNG if they get sued?
You aren't paying me to do that.

So this means no mods of official content, since importing meshes or changing jbeams = reverse engineering the game.

Why would I accept something that gives a company exclusive rights to do whatever they want with my content? Even if it was uploaded without my knowledge.

As it stands now, I cannot agree to this. Your lawyer's take on content ownership is a major turnoff; and from reading this EULA, it seems your lawyer does not understand the circumstances of what kind of game BeamNG.drive is, and how community oriented it is.

As of now, I will be requesting a takedown on any content of mine which is ported to this game and not released by me.

    Thank you for your time.

While I'm not in full agreement with the EULA either, you seem to be misinterpreting some things (admittedly, legalese makes this easy).

You grant BeamNG those rights, not any other users. Regarding other users, all you do is
Copy and archive means that they're allowed to store the mod on their computer (as technically and legally, that's making a copy). I'm not sure why they've decided to allow everyone to make derivative. I don't really care, because the license doesn't say they're allowed to make "derivative works", but only "derivate works", which I don't really mind (as I'm pretty sure "derivate works" aren't a thing).

Translation: if a BeamNG.drive update deletes your BeamNG.drive mods: your problem. If a BeamNG.drive update deletes your school work: their problem.

Essentially, they're telling you that if you violate the agreement, you'll admit it. You won't have anything to do with BeamNG in a court case unless you're the one who fucked up.

That's not reverse engineering. Still, this part is made void by the fact that much of the code is licensed under the bCDDL, which effectively renders both licenses void. What this implies depends on where you live.

Because otherwise you're not allowed to play the game?

I'll wait for an official answer from a developer thank you.

I can wait, playing BeamNG is near the bottom of my list of things I want to do. Its already been over 2 months since I last started it, a few more won't hurt.

I am curious what this has to do with BeamNG though.

The restrictions on user content are a bit strict though. Again implying that you cannot tell other users to not mod your content.

I guess in this case you either don't play, don't mod or don't release your mods which in all cases isn't helping BNG.

I have not downloaded it yet so I want to ask: Will it affect my mods?
