The car is having weird top speeds: 1. ETK 856 ttSport+ (M), being too fast going past 290 km/h with 332hp (should be under 280 km/h). 2. ETK 854td (M), being too slow and accelerating slowly as well doing only 188 km/h with 147hp (should be over 200 km/h). Note my 15 year old VW Bora 1.6 SR (101 hp) does according to its manual 188 km/h. (In reality I've quite easily got it over 180 km/h on flat terrain, note the speedo shows around 3-4 km/h more than it real speed, GPS verified.) source of information (based on the 5-series BMW touring F11 2013 onwards ) http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ By the way a beautiful addition to the game and congratulations to the BeamNG team! I hope that these inaccuracies can be solved by the next update and can get a word from devs about this issue. Thanks
This car is not an exact replica of any real car, so any BMW manual is irrelevant. Also, horsepower isn't the only thing that dictates top speed: torque, gearing, weight, rolling resistance, aerodynamics, etc. are all important factors.
True, and its even more complicated in reality but its still very much off where about it should be. If it is based on real world car counterparts and by the way its obvious that it is, when it should have highly similar performance. ( not the same of course) I could bring up dozens of real world examples, but I think you can search it easily. To sum things up I don't know that if its related to the aerodynamics coding in the game or the tire modelling. But I give hope that this matter can be solved sometime on.
Those horsepower numbers in the torque curve app are before friction is taken into account. The brake horsepower of the diesel is closer to 130, and it's probably making less than 120 at the wheels. As for the ttSport, we tried to tune the rolling resistance and aero drag to match real vehicles as closely as possible, but it's impossible to be perfect with such a wide range of engine options.
Thanks for the reply! What I currently see in game is that vehicles especially modern day more aerodynamically shaped passenger cars with "lower" horsepower ratings (say under 150 hp) don't quite reach realistic velocities (around 10% negatively off) like the 90-s pessima, sunburst or the covet, compared with the more powerfully rated cars in game (sbr4, bolide etc..), which don't have these problems at all. Mostly passenger car manufacturers don't give wheel hp ratings to their cars, they usually have flywheel rated values, also many times without engine accessories.
