Hello BeamNG Riders, A mod I created a while ago needs to be shared. It moves the ETKi gear shifter thru its gears. That while ago I uploaded it to the repo but it could not be approved. ( rightfully ) It overwrites game files (was the reason) but I'm too busy with too much stuff at the same time so no time found to improve it furthermore so far. The mod was appreciated by devs as being really cool. I'm not sure if the override causes any problem. So far I didn't found any but it's been a while I looked at it. I think what devs meant is that it's not separately selectable in the parts editor, though I'm not sure. And indeed it isn't selectable, once the zip is in mods folder, the original shifter is replaced by the moving one. Anyway, I love it as it is and I want the community to enjoy it as well ! If something's wrong with it or you don't like it, just throw it out and done Also, feel free to report bugs in the thread, no promise I'll fix them but maybe I will. Major point is learning and honestly I don't think it has bugs. Texture on shifterbase can be improved. The movements ? I'm ok with them Instructions : Put in Mods folder Hope you enjoy ! NOCARGO
Sorry I kept you waiting cause it's actually especially made for sharing since I couldn't get the retractable lights working in current game version..
Bro, you're a madman. You're one of the few people that manage to make things that seem impossible for the game.
Thank you for that compliment I just try to improve things that already exist that's all.. Actually, here's an other opinion on things that seem impossible for the game : They actually aren't impossible, it just takes time (as an evolution) to improve and refine code to get complex stuff running on home computers imo. Also we must not forget that the development of the game is kind of meant for the broader audience. Much of them just don't want to cope with all that complexity that some of us love so dearly, I do in any case. So the devs concept has to make sure that all the output stays waterproof for general use, right ? I respect that and I am even doing things to the game that prevent me from putting on the forums for that particular reason. I might go and screw up peoples games by exposing code that needs to be handled with caution and enthousiasm for complexity. At the end, without BeamNG I wouldn't be doing any of this today..
