fatal error couldnt find version.txt

hello all I have just bought the beamng and have downloaded it but when it goes to update I get the fatal error and I have read several post on here about the error and things to try and I can say I have tried all of them several times together and by them selves. what is really confusing me is I had the demo version working and working just fine good fps no lag and enjoyed it but when I decided to buy the game it just wont work.

im running windows 8 and I reach all requirements for this just need to get the issues fixed. thanks for your time and help

 

activate your forum account, otherwise it will be assumed your pirating (and saying you bought it isn't believable, since there's absolutely no proof

ok sorry I thought I had already done that but everything works till it goes to update it puts the setup and launcher both on my desktop but like I said it just keeps giving me the fatal error

? personally ive always found that windows will force a permanent read-only mode on any files or folder's in the main C:\ root drive, and that appdata, or my documents or something like that is the "safe" place (yes, in windows 7 as well)
