I had to write this again, as I pressed backspace my whole thread got deleted So it isn't as well written as the first one. I love this game, as my 77 hours played shows. I love the fact that (unlike Spintires) this game gets regular updates, it hasn't been dying for years, and the Developers seem to genuinely care about the product they make. I'm pleasantly surprised on the frequency and size of the updates, too. However, although this game has been doing great so far, I have a few ideas that would vastly improve the mass appeal of this game and improve it's appeal to hardcore Beam enthusiasts alike. I'm sure many of you will agree with at least some of my ideas, and if you don't or have something you want to add, feel free to tell me. An intelligent AI- This is one thing which will greatly benefit features that I'll get to in a moment. Playing some modded scenarios, the AI isn't always the best. It's fine in some of the standard scenarios, but I'm not sure it's up to the task of some of the new features that I'm thinking of. Hopefully if a great AI system is implemented it has an adjustable difficulty setting. Game modes like races, demolition derbies, and "driven to destruction" style events- I think with a good AI races could become an excellent addition to this game, especially on current "free roam" style maps. This brings back great memories for me from a Windows 98 era game-Midtown Madness. As far as demolition derbies, this seems like BeamNG's expertise, but the only real option right now is an excellent mod that stopped working after the 6.0 update. I wish there was a similar derby mode made by the Dev's, that wasn't a mod. Test drive: eve of destruction is another game I have fond memories of in the PS2 days, and similar game modes like the figure 8 jump race, the push off, car soccer, and just a standard point to point off road race would be fantastic additions to the game-especially with this final feature... Multiplayer- This seems like an obvious suggestion, and I'm sure the Developers understand this, but I think with the right events online multiplayer would have an even bigger effect on Beam NG than it has on Spintires. Imagine playing a race or a derby event with several online players, I think it would add another whole world to BeamNG, and it's the biggest thing that would increase the mass appeal of the game, IMO.
I'm pretty user the devs are going to get all the simulation stuff done in this game before moving onto this. I think the AI, scenarios, and the garage are more like tastes of what's to come in the future when they decide to add this stuff. Especially the gamemodes part and the AI. That will definitely come. I'm not sure about the multiplayer thing, though. They might make a points based game where you don't actually interact ingame, but you do events and gain points which are shown on the scoreboard.
I agree 110% with you. This game should have a difficulty setting for scenarios. Also this game could really use races, demo derbys, driven to destruction events, etc.. Also for multiplayer what if there were other modes too like tag mode and infection like in Forza Horizon.
one thingi wouldlike to point out is if u look at games such as need for speed world (which was online only) had the servers took down a year ago but a entire modding community from ElitepvPlayers and other groups are working bring the game back online for free of charge so remember if the dev team are unable to do it due to cost a second team or a modding team to create the servers ps this is a link to the nfs world https://sites.google.com/site/djnfswo/home
A difficulty setting for scenarios (like the option of 3 very different vehicles for a given scenario) is a great idea. Also, I'm going to revisit the original Midtown Madness game which I still have. Point to point races like that would be fantastic, say you can choose any vehicle "up to performance class 6" or "up to performance class 4" --- Post updated --- Yup, I'm absolutely sure the Devs know what they are doing and will continue to keep this game as great as it is. IMO, I'm honestly not too sure if making this game story based is the best path for BeamNG.. I'm skeptical. Your right though that of all my suggestions Online Multiplayer would definitely be the largest hurdle, and I'm not expecting it any time soon (if ever).
My profile picture is Midtown Madness 2! Such a great game. I can still play it online with Game Ranger! It's so fun online!
I just thought of a couple new things, and I think this thread is the most appropriate place to post it. Like Spintires, the mousewheel should be able to zoom in/out the camera while in an exterior camera view. (particularly useful in the T series with a trailer) Speaking of trailers, as nice as the small trailer is, the largest vehicle it can accommodate with the ramp up is the Covet. I think there should be a somewhat larger trailer, say 18 feet long and a foot wider than the current one. Also, a wraparound barrier on the front and side (1 foot tall) to prevent loaded vehicles from falling off. With the nodes, I'd love for the Devs to implement some sort of tow strap/chain. Thoughts?
