This is one of the big projects I've been working on. Basically a 8x8km map that's 90% based off of the small coastal town of Fort Bragg, California. Here's a video showing my current progress:

    Ambitious project.
I don't know how advanced this map is, but judging by the video, it seems to be in its early stages. I like the fact that you have made some assets with SketchUp for the map, having custom assets is a great touch. I'm not sure, but it seems that you also used assets from Garfield Heights. As far as the map isn't filled with those assets only, I think it is not a problem at all. The traffic lights are also a nice touch.
However, I would suggest creating custom road textures. The default road texture is fine, but using custom textures helps with the atmosphere and the look of the map.
Good luck with this project, there's a lot of potential there :)

Yes, I've gotten permission from @Occam's Razer to use some of his map's assets. I probably will switch to a custom road texture eventually.

And all I really have to do is add some more road signs, populate the map with some more custom assets (especially the downtown area), and extend the main street further north a bit to make better use of the map size. I am not working particularly fast on this project as I have school work to do, but I'm hoping to get the aforementioned things done by Christmas. Sure, if I devoted all my free time to this (~2-3 hours a day) I could probably finish by Halloween but I doubt I'll be that motivated every single day.

I'll estimate that I've put about 25 hours of work into the map so far and it's 50% finished, so if I spend just 15 minutes a day working on it, it will take about 3 months to finish it. I most likely won't work on it every single day so that puts the ETA around Christmas.

So far I have 13 miles of paved roads and 6 miles of forest backroads (unpaved). A second video is on the way!
