Nope, it works. Just it hasn't been updated in a while. Will make that noticed. Not much that can be done about that. Insert a X word limit, and you get gibberish inserted just to go past that.
1. Okay 2. Yes, that is true, but that can be sorted out by checking profiles? It may not be that easy to check 600,000 profiles but ya get what I mean. 3. (reverts back to 1) 4. How can you be so sure that these changes helped? 5. Though it did get a cut, I'd disagree with removing the entire feature to the point that people may jokingly call each others "gay"? 6. Well, I'd say it's the same as it was months ago, except without being able to comment on other people's posts. Not trying to force my opinion into anyone's head here, but might aswell try to display my points without causing drama. Overall, thanks for cutting the criticism but you can't win them all, I don't exactly agree with the removal.
Well, you'll need to deal with that. As said, profile posts are not coming back, there's no reason to keep on discussion about that as it's pretty much an unmovable / not decision Also, most changes are seen by us (ie. Reports, PMs, etc), and I can tell there's been a big cut on toxic and unwanted behavior. It has been a while since a weekenend passed with us doing very little moderation (ie. Nothing much out of place).
When you click on the featured section, it leads to a bigger spot for more mods, could you possibly keep mods that have ever been featured in there, but only the first 3 will be shown? Also, if it could be update every other week or so that would be much better. (I love to highlight things if you couldn't tell)
Also, one recommendation I have for this forum: Tags, no, not those tags, tags which describe a certain forum milestone someone has reached, such as: Being on the forums for quite some time (ie: since 2014-2013-2012) and have it be in sections, such as: Elite, been here for up to 6 years and longer Professional, been here from 4-6 years (Couldn't think of a name), been here from 2-4 years (Couldn't think of a name), been here from 1-2 years And other certain milestones, like amounts, forum behaviour, and a system like Reddit's karma, where you get a bunch of points based on the behaviour you've gotten, it'd provoke people to be nice on the forums so they can gain it. It worked with Reddit's 140,000,000 people so it should work with BeamNG's 200,000-500,000 people There should also be a milestone, say, if you've owned the game for long or not, it'd add a bit of soul to the forums. Also, when the game fully releases (with all products), I'd think it'd be a good idea to add "Alphatester" and "Betatester" badges to the forums, next to the bottom right of their profile picture should house all of the images of the badges they've gotten.
We have the likes you know, no need for "karma". It's the same thing. Also there won't be any "tiers" for users, that's a definite no-no.
Eh, I don’t think that tags are such a good idea. It kinda seems like it’d just add another thing for people to get mad about/judge people for, without any real benefit.
People are mature enough anyways, there's no profile posts to comment about it and people hardly ever go far-off topic on a subject. As I said, it gives the forum a bit more soul, not saying you can't disagree, but I'm sticking to my own opinion and thoughts here.
The only things that really upsets me are: 1. I was using profile posts to store some stupid unicode thing that I'll now have to find and copy again. 2. With no more "General Discussion" thread, I have nowhere to dump random thoughts that don't really fit any of the existing threads. And if they're tangentially related to cars, then there's the additional problem that pretty much all the time now, the most recent post in that thread is by the same guy with a half-censored swear in his signature.
Signature limit is way too short. That was the shortest I could get it, where I actually preferred it.
I never really saw much of what lead up to either one, so I have to assume both had something to do with the people who can't stop having drama all the time.
Neither did I. One minute the GD was unlocked, next minute later tdev locked it. I was pretty unhappy about it though, and I'm still not happy about it. Removing it ultimately did more to punish the users who used it appropriately, and I've seen confirmation that those removals has discouraged some users into leaving. I advocated things getting better, but removing two good features is not what I meant.
The general discussion thread would be nice to have back, but I think we need to show that we're not going to make a mess with it as we have been before they even consider unlocking it. I don't really miss the profile posts though, there were a few nice notes every now and then that you'd see, but removing them hasn't made the forums worse off by any means. If y'all miss profile posts that much you can make your own forums or social site for that kind of thing.
