So, no matter what i do my friend is convinced that BeamNG is not realistic. Of course, the wobble isn't realistic and some of the sounds and crashes seem rather comical, but the rest is fine. He probably saw videos of automation cars flying around a track and thought that that's the whole game. I hope some of you guys manage to convince him otherwise, 'cos like i said, there's nothing i can do to convince him that Beam is realistic for a virtual game
You can't convince some people, if he has no mechanical knowledge of cars then I don't think rational argumentation will work on him
That's true, but he especially thinks the driving is unrealistic. For example, steering to much at high speeds makes your frontwheels not have grip
I honestly think that Forza is realistic as it had like the realistic graphics and stuff. One thing that bothers me is how the car damage works as It just looks more like visual damage. Like it doesn't look that realistic at all, All it is just scratches and dents. I'd really thought the new Forza game that could be coming out this year would have better crashing physics but yet it's gonna look like this.
Literally one of the most basic concept in high speed driving, it’s called understeer lol --- Post updated --- Your friend needs a lesson in physics and just like the basics of driving, and maybe a bit of common sense :/
Yep this is absolutely because manufacturers don’t want completely mangled cars to mess with their brand reputation. BeamNG doesn’t have that issue because all of it’s cars are fake and don’t have real brands attached to them.
Real Life Vehicles=Always having limited damage Fictionalized/Generic Vehicles=could be destroyed very easily.
look your mate directly in the eyes and tell him he's an idiot then grab is neck and twist his fuc........... yeah.....i think your friends needs a reality check
That is partially true... Have you ever seen a car from the hit game Grand Thaft Auto⌬? Especially the DLC vehicles in GTA Online are extremely robust.
That's just a bad damage model (not everyone will agree that it's bad but it's definitely nowhere near close to BeamNG)
i will NOT recommend you to buy yourself a race car, just to let your friend kill himself, but what your friend needs to learn is physics. ive had to have this conversation with a few people who had the same idea of beamng, that it was not realistic at all. i pressed on, asked why they think its unrealistic? one of the most famous replies is, the game is too slippery... well buddy, try taking a sharp corner at 200km/h in real life and let me know how far the car keeps on tumbling. in this game, you miss a lot of the feeling of speed, you go 200km/h but since its a video game, you are looking at a 2d screen without any g forces. you do not understand the sense of speed until its too late, and everything slides because you are going 200+ the other complain ive seen a lot... beamng is too wiggly, too soft. to jelly feeling? while beamng is NOT perfect no, go look at pro dragsters launching in real life and tell me you dont see anything flex and bend like if it was made of jelly. everything flexes in real life, its just not as drastic and noticeable. i think ive read a thread from YEARS ago that some dude physically calculated the grip of objects in beamng to calculate its physics accuracies. and i think it was something around the 70-80% physically accurate to real life physics behaviors. i need to dig and try to find that thread. (i found it: https://www.beamng.com/threads/physics-demonstrations-in-beamng.34620/ ) considering this is from 2017 im sure physics have improved since then as well considering this is a public game, and not some complex closed behind business door software that we rarely see. (that costs thousands to license) i personally feel like beamng is the best "real life physics simulator" software available to the general public. you simply wont get a better physics game then beamng. most people just dont have a big enough understanding of physics to realize what beamng does, and how well it does it.
