Hi guys, now before I go into this, I just want to say that i don't mean to be mean with the authors, i like the 1990's cars and the fact that they seem to be more durable then the ETK and hirochi cars. But please i seriously I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just asking a question.

Okay, so there is a huge load of modern cars nowadays and how come beamng drive decided to keep the 1990s cars that doesn't handle the best and wobbles. Of course there could be like a ford explorer or a Chevy Tahoe added. Or other modern cars. I'm fine with the sort of old gavril company but I was just wondering why there are 1990 cars in beamng drive.

The game was originally based around demolition derbies, meaning the promised cars were based around that demographic.

And even if not that, the original Beam cars seem to be bargain bin material. Even the SBR4 and Bolide are rather cheap for the supercar segment.

What's wrong with 1990s cars? They are the perfect balance between classic Mechanical Cars and nice amount of features and comfort. I even have a 1996 car myself. Also, If you haven't noticed, many games do lack those mid/low range types of cars, so I am actually quite happy that they decided to go for that many average cars instead of going only for supercars, race cars, legendary drift cars and so on.

Also if you look at what cars does a typical person with lower income drive, in most cases it is an average late 90s- early 2000s car. Of course it all depends where do you live.

Also I'm worried if they made current cars, they would have to build so many features around them to make them truly authentic, I think it's best for now if the devs make older and simpler cars.

Agreed, right now the dev should focus on developing the history of these car companies, and THEN move on to the good stuff.

They still have 3 vintage cars left from what we know (including the Bluebuck and Wendover).

adding onto what others said above me, modern cars are boring. also, they have way too many extra features to simulate, but would feel empty without (backup camera, park assist, lane change assist, automatic braking).

They're all neat, but not crucial.
Sure, but a jack of all trades is a master of none. We need average cars, but we also need more oddball ones.

And the lower class isn't the only, and in many countries the cheapest cars are from other decades (e. g. 2000s in China, 1970s to 90s in the US "Wild West", 60s to 80s in Egypt, etc.)

I think they're easier to make since they have less detail on them.

A perfect balance is needed. Cars like the ETKs and the Sunburst do fill some of the roles, but I would take a new D-series in a heartbeat...
Plus, all those features like a back up cam (which correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't see it being too hard) or a lane change assist, (Again, correct me if im wrong, but couldn't this be done with a more advanced ai & traffic system?)
None of those features are really crucial of needed anyway.

I don't see problems with the model anyway. If Ninetynines S-series can pull it off without being a glitchy mess, why wouldn't a dev team be able.

We also need more pre 1990s/1980s content as along with newer ones.

For me 96' was the end of most respectable car production. From that point compromise dominated most engineering decisions making cars slowly lose all passion, stage by stage, resulting in functional but horridly stale design and engineering. The diving experience is now a breeze not and adventure, dislocating the relationship between driver and vehicle. Even the 98' Honda EK9 was just so much focused on the driver, I have never felt a front end like it. To get a package like that these days you have to pay much more for the equivilant.

4 1 4 1 translates as 'shi ichi, shi ichi'

In Roane county Tennessee, why is the AI more stupid? Because the AI hits stop signs and goes through two way turns and hits the trees. Why is the AI so dumb in Roane county?

Another question, has anyone made any ETK SUV's or anymore Hirochi cars?
