Have the devs announced any future plans when it comes to interacting with the various surface types in the engine.

So far the interaction consists of the vehicle sinking into static geometry and applying different resistances based on the surface type and tyre traction.

Will this be fleshed out later in development? Examples such as Texture/shader effects and/or interactive geometry displacement?

I don't know about Texture/Shader effects, but interactive geometry displacement is off the table due to the extreme load it would put on computers (because the whole map would have to have jbeam)

Know how taxing Beam is at the moment? Nasa’s best computer would melt.

I'd be happy with just textures/shader effects if performance is an issue, just because as it stands now it feels a little disconnected having your vehicle behave like it's floating in a liquid instead of displacing a solid material around the tyre.
