Game deletes mods

This is the second time this has happened. I opened up Beamng and there are a lot of my mods missing from the game. They were deleted from my mod folder.

 

Do you use the in-game repository or download mods manually?
Out of curiosity, did you try searching your computer for your mods' names? Can you check your recycle bin and see if your mods are in there (for whatever reason)?
Also, what anti-virus do you use? This one is a stretch but it could be your antivirus removing files it thinks aren't legit files.

 

I manually downloaded all of the deleted mods. Thankfully I still have them in my download folder so its not a huge deal it just is very annoying having to search for them.

They are totally gone without a trace. I tried that the first time. They are deleted for sure.

Literally nothing but Windows Defender and the once in a while virus scan I do with Antimalwarebyes although I haven't ran it inbetween the time span of this first happening and the 2nd time it has happened so it can't be that. The thing is that the only mods that seem to have stuck around where the ones I downloaded in game.

I am at a lost for words as to what could be causing this.

 

Well now I'm really confused if the game can't delete mods on its own.

I downloaded them and copied them mods into the mod folder in mydocuments. This was only a problem as of recently,I have owned the game for like 2 years now and now only in the past few months my mods have been randomly disappearing.

 

I'm a bit a a loss but I don't like giving up.
Do the files themselves disappear, or do they simply not appear in-game?
Do you have any non-factory file-management software?
I'm trying to apply Occam's razor here and hope that your hard drive isn't responsible for it (or that the computer itself has something weird going on with the permissions)

 

I had this same type of problem happen to me in the past, and i went into the mods folder and found out that the game had generated a second mods folder, which was empty. the original one with all my mods in it was still there, yet the game was using the empty folder. I just deleted the empty one and moved on and all worked fine.
