My current laptop cannot play this game and I need a new £500-600 gaming computer or laptop, do you have any suggestions?
Do you want a laptop or a desktop? You won't get that much gaming power in a laptop at that price range, but you can build a reasonable gaming desktop for the money. If you don't have a real reason to get rid of your current laptop, I'd keep it for whatever you use it for, and build a desktop computer.
I personnaly don't like gaming laptops because for the same price of a gaming laptop you can build a better gaming PC, but with your 600 pound budget is not gonna get you any where for a gaming laptop. - HERE - Ryzen 5 1400 (122 £) - MSI X370 Gaming Pro (105 £) - EVGA GTX 1050 TI 4GB SSC Gaming ACX (128 £) - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 2400 DDR4 (60 £) - 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM (39 £) - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (75 £) - CORSAIR CX Series 450W (31 £) - NZXT S340 (53 £) - Total is 613 £
I agree. £600 is a mid ranged laptop at best, whereas I spent £600 about 3 years ago on this PC, and have been able to run everything I've wanted too. Sure, there are some games where I gotta turn some settings down now, but this computer is 3 years old. You can get much better hardwear than mine for the same price, as the post above proves. Just just recommend doing research before you end up making your decision
$600US is enough to get a second hand laptop that can play BeamNG if you get a lucky find (That's the cheapest price I have ever seen someone selling the model laptop I have, they almost never go for that little though and I personally wouldn't want to go through the effort of looking for such a good find and take the risk of getting a cheap and old second hand laptop). I wouldn't recommend trying to get a new gaming laptop unless you have at least $1200US budget. That is probably enough to get a laptop that can run a lot on medium graphics and be relevant for a reasonable amount of time. The only desktops I have ever owned were my first two computers, both in the 2000's. I personally prefer a fair laptop to a good desktop. Yes they are much more expensive for the performance, but the flexibility is worth it for me.
Laptops are great if you wanna play games while not at home (or if you don't wanna get out of bed), but you can't avoid the fact that they are just more expensive for the same spec equivilent of a desktop. If you weren't bothered by second hand, and looked for one a few years older, you could maybe find one for about 600-700 with fair specs. But don't expect too much. I'd have a laptop for doing things on the go, but they're not very good as a main computer. Remember, with a desktop, you could always cheap out on a part you don't need as much, and upgrade the computer later when you've got more money to spend on it. Most laptops don't get that option
For some people a desktop is definitely a better option, but not for everyone. Not sure if it would be better for the OP or not, but a laptop is better for me personally. Last time I had a desktop as a main computer was about a decade ago and I don't intend on going back to that. I only take my Asus laptop out of the house maybe twice a year, but I move it around in the house a lot. For example, I can easily move it from my claustrophobic "office" space to the TV room, which I commonly do. That and their small footprint is invaluable for me. Yes the increased price and lack of upgrade-ability is an issue for more serious gamers, but after nearly 5 years of owning my Asus there are not many games I want to play but can't (JC3 and Ghost Recon Wildlands, both famous for their poor optimization) so I don't consider it a terrible investment, even if it is the worse of the two.
Having it be able to move from more than 1 room is good, but for me, I rarely leave this room. Chances are, if I'm not in this room, I'm not in the building. It's... Probably not the healthiest lifestyle
