The idea of a passenger-vehicle-based utility vehicle originated in Australia in 1934 with the advent of the Model A two-door body / tray configuration. It was Australia's second invention since Vegemite in 1923. The fun-loving beer-chundering ex-cons enjoyed their utes until, in 1957, Ford revealed the Ranchero. One can only imagine how frustrated the Aussies were; America, all too keen to crush or appropriate other cultures, had stolen yet another idea. Of course, this irritation never left the Southern hemisphere and two years later Chevrolet too began selling a car-based truck. Quoth Aussies, "even the bloody name sounds appropriated!" Quite oblivious to this, Americans started driving cars named El Camino while telling native Americans to speak English. Cultural issues aside, the El Camino and Ranchero were both beautiful cars (well, the El Camino was until it started to look like a stoned crocodile flip-flop) and I noticed a lack of factory-made 60s utes in BeamNG. So I decided to chop up a Bluebuck - and here it is. Now, dear all my begging cun- ah, friends who do not quite understand what WIP means, this is not finished, and due to an irregular schedule I haven't a clue when it will be done. If you have any suggestions, tell me and I'll consider it. That's right, consider. I didn't say I'm going to do it, because if you think I'm gonna make you a panel van version complete with funky paint job and jbeamed imaginary girlfriend you ought to try whacking yourself on the head with a spatula. I'm specifically looking for suggestions on what to put inside the bed, what accessories to give it, and what to name it (if it is to be a separate car at all; currently it is just a body option). That being said, I do plan to release this someday. Unless someone asks "when release". Thanks to: Nekkit - for suggesting the wooden deck and providing me with the textures OMAME's BeamNG Japan discord server - for ideas and feedback MfD discord server - for suggestions
Looks amazing from the screenshots you've posted so far! If you're looking for suggestions for props to put in the bed, a couple surfboards could be a cool idea.
Oh that would be great. I have no idea if it will fit; photos on the internet suggest that a surfboard is either carried on the roof of the vehicle or attached to the tailgate. Perhaps propped up on the roof is viable too. Images - (Shutterstock) (elcaminos dot com)
Similar to the Burnside Ute, you could possibly put a pallet in the back with an engine strapped on top. I feel it would be an interesting idea. Another idea could possibly be a bed cover on it?
Oh hey there Shadows! A bed cover (hard one, likely, because I'm clueless when it comes to fabric jbeam) might be a good idea. I'm more interested in the engine and pallet though - I remember seeing that on the Burnside ute, and I think it's doable with minimal finicky jbeam. I'll have to count on the bed's jbeam to work properly.
Heyo! Thought I'd drop by the thread and see everything, and also thought I'd drop my ideas. I'm hyped for this, it's something I've wanted for awhile not gonna lie, so it's sick that you're making one. Keep up the nice work! also wen relez
but sir i pay big bucks for mod and i trade you skins very fair offer 10/10 would reccomend :suglases:
@Shadows a delivery for sir... Non-functional engine on pallet now available in "cargo" slot. Also, a vastly improved bed model by @Logan Oram Feltham with realistic tubs and cleaner taillight area.
This looks cool, though its not complete but it is coming along nicely. Im looking forward for more progress on this "Aussie converted" car. For bed loads, Im thinking of furniture like sofa, fridge, etc. Or a bunch of cardboards boxes strapped to it
This looks awesome! Seeing the engine in the back like that made me realize I have a suggestion for this, a mid-engine variant? It might be a bit difficult to do, but it would be really cool and unique.
So, I had a little bit of trouble last night installing surfboards with insane beam stress (to the point where the car went crunch on spawn) and a lot of technical things going askew, but I finally have the Hawai'i config. I really like that idea, but at the same time, it's a little difficult - it's pretty much a different car from ground up at that point. I'll keep it in mind, but I can't say it's likely to happen.
