the first one is really low quality, but the second one is indeed useful + its free so in theory there shouldnt be a problem using it
video game model rip? *check* free? *check* downloadable? *check* definitely the second one since it covers everything needed.
Yeah, the second one is absolutely incredible. Every game and mod should just use that model instead of their own because of its immense amounts of accuracy, dedication, and most of all, quality
I found a forum post where someone was looking for NASCAR Heat 5 model rips. This guy did it (1st image) and the Ford model looks like this (2nd image). I'll upload the zip file for the models if anyone is interested.
The thing is, many models from games, such as that one, have a much higher density of vertices. And although it may look better, it can spike when deforming in beamng and possibly degrade performance. Take the 2fast nascar mod for example, they use the models straight out of the Nascar Heat games. Not saying they're bad to use, but using models such as these has some drawbacks.
doesnt the 2fast one have a quite bad jbeam? because from what i saw both models only have a difference of around 600 vertices and 4,400 triangles (unless that little difference has a big change in performance)
The model I used is also decently high poly, but that is only because it was my first mod. I'm learning to model so that in future projects I don't have to find ones that others made.
For the other manufacturers, would you not be able to use the chassis from the camaro and just add a different body on top? That means it will be a lot easier to build and will probably make it more authentic instead of having to tune a completely new car to be the same speed as an already existing vehicle
You are right, I would be able to use the Camaro chassis, just with another body. The problem is, I simply don't have the models for them and I wouldn't want to do it at this point. If I ever do add those, it would be with a complete remaster of this mod, which is obviously not on my list of things I want to do at the moment. The specific things I did with this mod worked well enough with the Camaro, however looking back on it now I could definitely do a much better job with it if I ever were to go back and redo it.
I love how people are putting other manufacturer schemes on the Camaro body, that takes skill to make it look fine (cursed nonetheless, but I love it)! Props to you guys!
