I guess it will depend on two factors: How much mercury was in the bulb, and how much of it he got in contact with.
Also, I do believe the mercury in lightbulbs aren't the liquid mercury, it's mercury gas so if you've breathed in a whole shit ton of it you've dun goofed.
I'd say so too, because I've seen videos of liquid mercury, and I don't think that would work too well with something designed to emit light.
Yeah, I find mercury cool at a safe distance.. It's not cool if you touch it, breathe it in, or get it in your system.
I think you guys are overestimating how toxic mercury is... I know the stuff isn't good, but modern bulbs don't contain all that much of the stuff... As for absorbing through the skin, it takes a long time for enough to absorb to do anything. Remember, only a couple decades ago Mr Wizard was regularly encouraging children to play with the stuff and a lot of school classes had kids try it. Liquid mercury is safe to handle for a short time without gloves as long as you don't have a cut or something. On another note, I had my first serious encounter with a bum today. I was really hungry and wanted to grab something before my train, but there was a guy was standing next to my favorite food cart. He asked me to buy him food, got seriously pissed off when I said I don't have enough to spare, and I walked away without any food to this pissed off guy 3 times my size cursing me out. This guy absolutely towered over me, and I am not a small person. I usually ignore them but I decided to report him to an officer since this guy was really aggressive and basically guarding the food carts infront of the station. The police officers around here aren't very approachable, but eventually I convinced an officer that there was a risk of that guy starting a fight.
Karen Wetterhahn. She was handling "Organic Mercury" which is much, much, more toxic than the tiny amount of Inorganic Mercury in CFL bulbs. He'll be fine.
I'm sorta curious what it's like to bite down on a tide pod. Also the point isn't to chew it up and swallow it. The point is to bite down on it and then spit it out.
You're probably right. I'd imagine a really bitter, soapy taste. My post above looks way out of place though because I was a few pages back thinking I was on the most recent page. Whatever.
