I've got my last one tomorrow, on my 18th birthday, so I finish at 11am and then I'm making a B-line to the pub!

Just don't take a drunken waddle down the high street at 3:30pm when all the year 7's are walking home.

I was wearing a suit too to top it off :p

Drinking age here in american is 21. Pretty damn pointless.
The whole drinking age thing is pretty stupid. I mean if someone really wants to drink, they can do it before the age pretty easily.

16 for sexy fun time, (with parental consent) marriage and 50cc mopeds. 17 for broom broom car and blood donation (I went 2 days after my 17th actually, on complete impulse, mums friend was dropping her kid off so that she could go and I just decided why the fuck not tag along). 18 for booze, voting, gambling and I think thats everything covered. There is a "look 21" setup in place though, idea being that if you are doing something age restricted then you will be ID'ed if you look under 21, I don't have to elaborate :p Some betting shops and fancy clubs boost the age requirement to 21, its their own property and not in violation of the law so they can do that, but its damn rare. Some places change look 21 to look 25. Pointless really.

Today I went to buy a bottle of beer from a supermarket. Used the self serve till so of course it flagged up an age restricted purchase and prevented me paying until someone over-rode the machine. I got as far as opening my wallet and pulling a drivers license out and the assistant over-rode the machine without checking it, I shouldnt complain really but there are people with provisional licenses at 16 and full drivers licenses at 17 who could have easily slipped through.

I don't think the drinking age is stupid though. I've seen enough mature adults that should know better flatten themselves on the floor, we had a family friend who fell into the road right infront of a car while inebriated, sadly her life support was ended about 2 months after that. Frankly I dont want 10 year old kids running around drunk all the time because someone thought it would be a good idea to legalise alcohol for people of all ages. We have enough problems with mature adults and alcohol, we don't need immature kids too. Then there's the whole slowed development thing it can cause too.
Small quantities within the home, a small glass with a meal or something, I don't see a problem with that. But otherwise I see nothing wrong with the current system.

Haha superb! No doubt I'll definitely be doing something like that, supposed to be going out for a meal in the evening with my parents, nah that's not happening.

Yeh I don't what the reasoning is behind having it at 21, are there are other things that you can't do in the States until you're 21?

Yea I agree, you can join the army at age 18, smoke legally at age 18 but can't drink until 21. But like you said it's not hard to get it even if your under 21. We need to teach about moderation not just outright banning it. If the US didn't make such a big deal about things like alcohol then we wouldn't have so many alcohol related problems.

Yeah pretty much everything else is 18. You can even buy cigarettes at 18 but for some reason alcohol was pushed back to 21.
    Autofan said it well.
But the driving stuff over here is earlier than the uk. At 15 you can get a learners and drive a vehicle with an adult in the car, 16 you can get license and drive by yourself. But when you're 16 there are some stupid restrictions like you can drive with passengers that arent family (its some really specific thing idk exactly) or be out between 11pm and 4 am or something like that. It's pretty stupid.
I'm not sure about motorcycle laws and stuff. I'm pretty sure you have to have a motorcycle license to drive any motorcycle on the road.

In cali, the restrictions on 16 drivers license is that no one under the age of 25 (or 21 i forget) can be a passenger unless you have a licensed 25+ year old in the car with you (only applies for 6months) and cant be out without a licensed 25+ year old between 11:00 and some other time (apllies for 12 months)

It's different for all the states. Texas has a permit at 15 and full at 16. Permit allows you to drive with a licensed person in the car. Kentucky has something similar but there is a ratio of licensed vs unlicensed drivers or something. You'd need to check per state.

anyone know of any android apps like easytether, but free and without limitations? (i have to use bing to search on my pc right now, BING, it's so horrible i needs to be able to use google again (speeds also aren't the best, but i imagine that's just a limitation of the wifi to android to usb stuff))

NVM, i figured it out, turns out that google is awesome, and in android versions 2.2+ you just have to have wifi connected on the phone, and usb tethering enabled as well, wait about 1 min as it installs drivers and connects to the phones wifi, and boom (surprisingly, it actually gets about the same speeds my now dead wifi adapter got))

so i should be on a lot more often now (since i no longer have to type on a phone keyboard)
