Anyone know a good car to buy in the USA for under 5000, and if you know of a car for sale round central Jersey please do post it.
Yes it is and I have done that, but I have found too many cars, and was hoping I might be able to slim down those choices, plus suggestions never hurt.
Honestly I'm just looking for a good reliable car that but can be fast when I need it preferably a fwd.

Your best bet would be a 2000-2005 Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, if you want both cost and reliability. 1st and 2nd generation Subaru Imprezas (1st: 1992-2000, 2nd: 2000-2007) are very cheap on eBay. They are very reliable, certain models feature FWD, safe and rather pretty.
Huh? Why do you want fwd? I mean, I can understand tolerating it, but how does one possibly prefer it over rwd or awd? If you don't mind being emasculated Meets all of your requirements Perfect for you Find hidden drug paraphernalia 5 months after you buy the car If you like getting raped your insurance company Probly a good first car dem rims yo Close enough Almost close enough
Now we are getting off topic... a "What car should I buy" thread turns into a "Good car acronyms" thread.
Hey, I like it! What a great idea, Gigawert! This is now a thread for Good Car Acrostics. Make it happen, people! Chop, Chop!
I want a fwd because it better for snow and I don't want a awd because the cost of tires aka all wheels get more wear n tear.
Uhh, no you would definitely want awd or, y'know, a truck for snow. Don't worry about tires yet. It's bad practice to just replace two tires when they wear out. Trust me, by the time your driven wheels need new tires the others should get some too. You have given us nothing to work with. So try to answer these questions as best as you can. Are you mechanically inclined? What decade of vehicle do you like? Do you need more than 2 seats? Replacement or displacement? Does it have to be a car? Will it spend its whole life on pavement? Are you paying your own insurance? Stick or auto? Do you LIKE driving, or do you only care about the utility? Is anything not fwd a no-go? For the record $5000 can get you a bitchin vehicle if you spend it right, but they will tend to be 90's or older, and you would have to be willing to learn how to fix it. Do you want people to eyeball your car and get the occasional offer to buy it? Do you look back at your vehicle while you walk away? Could you strike up a conversation about it at the gas station?
I can do the basics aka oils and brakes. no preference yes replacement yes yes yes auto or semi yes I like it depending on price may do awd yes not too much aka not too flashy yes yes
Ok, in that case, my suggestion is the Mitsubishi 3000gt. Or Dodge stealth depending on availability and/or personal preference (they are the same car with slightly different styling) The base models are a FWD, with a 3.0l SOHC 6G72 V6, The mid level is also FWD, but with the DOHC variant of the same motor, and the top model (the VR4) is AWD, and has AWS, active aero, and a twin turbo DOHC V6. Even the VR4s can be (rarely) found for less than $5000. They are almost always a stick, though autos do exist. You've tied your hands by needing FWD. Every time I go to put down a car I realize that it is either RWD, or useless in automatic. Speaking of which, can you drive stick, or do you just not like it? Ever since I learned how to drive stick I actually actively dislike driving anything that isn't. For me and many others it is the icing on the cake of driving experience.
