Since BeamNG has one of the best car damage , lets talk about the worst ones . This is GTA4 . It has one of the best car handling , and gameplay experience . But the car damage is absolutely hideous .
Re: Good ganes with bad car damage Bad damage: Gran Turismo 5 (Still, great game) Nice damage: Flatout 1. Lots of fun, lots of things to destroy.
Re: Good ganes with bad car damage I would have to disagree with all of them being bad. While they aren't really as realistic as BeamNG the newer NFS games have some pretty good damage, and I've always thought that High Stakes was alright. Granted the flying cars in the older games and the weird frisbee like glitches in the NFS are a bit, unrealistic.
iRacing. Not necessarily the eye candy (that's great), but half the time when you wreck you go flying into the skybox or rolling with half-assed inter-vehicle collision.
Really have to disagree with GTA IV having bad crash physics. There are a pretty limited number of games that I can think of that have a randomly generated damage system like that. Most tend to have damage models or very limited damage. As for bad damage, Gran Turismo 6. A major factor to its incredibly boring, bland and grinding gameplay. As for good damage the GRID and Dirt series have had some nice physics and damage, at least in the older games that I've played.
If you think that GTA4 has bad damage, you should see the damage in NFS Most Wanted from 2005. It has worse damage than Porsche Unleashed from 2000. All that happens is the windows crack and the paint is scratched. The cops have predefined damage in the front (smashed and hood), back (smashed bumper and trunk), and top (smashed roof) only.
GTA san andreas, they deformed a bit weird, Driv3r wasnt too much better and worst is probably the granturismo series
Both game had premodelled damaged IIRC, but I do remember Driv3r having way nicer (damage) models than GTASA.
Gran Turismo 6 has damage that looks like this. It's this with very slight body panel deformation. Also I forgot how to change image size.
Bad; City Car Driving(Not really a game but its damage is just.... Please get that out of my eyes.) Bad by today's standards, great for the 90s Driver 1 & 2. They do hold up against a few other games of the era, but today we have many other games that have a better system for damage than those games. Still great games
Assetto Corsa. Car damage is horrendous, when your tires pop the level of grip turns to ice and start to slowly sink into the ground...
