Grass turns sideways when camera sideways?

So. I just noticed this when I was laying sideways in a cabster. All the grass is sideways too. All the grass seems to follow the orientation of the camera.

 

Dude it looks like the tree is sideways too!

 

Very easy to render 2d grass that looks very good looking. If each piece of grass was a 3d object your frame would would be sliced in half. Just because of grass.. Sad isn't it. Our computers today are so powerful yet grass can slow Em down.

 

Well I understand that. But wouldn't it be possible to render a 2D object always facing upwards from the world? Doesn't sound like too much of a stretch.

 

I guess code it where the grass can only do a 180 radius movement in relation to the surface it sits on. I hope I'm making sense and not looking I've an idiot.
