Released Grundorf map

    Hey all! I am working on a new BeamNG map that adds the well-known Grundorf map from OMSI 2 into BeamNG!

    This is my first map that I have made in BeamNG, so things may not be the best quality.

    I will update this thread with new screenshots and progress updates when I complete them.

    Colour Coding
    Priorities:
    Red = High Priority
    Grey = Normal Priority
    Green = Low Priority

    -AI Traffic (Done, but still may be buggy)
    -Houses (Done)
    -Shops and other big buildings (Done)

    -Forest (Done)
    -Bus Lines (They are there, but don't function correctly)

    -Bus Stops (Done)
    -Traffic Lights (Done, but not actually working)
    -PBR (Done)
    -Terrain Sculpting (Done)
    -Better ground base texture (Done)
    -Working Street Lights (Done)


    I have got the main road and heightmap into BeamNG, heres what it looks like. BeamNGdrivex64_2CNaeSFYe3.jpg
    I still have to do the terrain sculpting to get it up to the roads height, and then I'll continue with the other things to do

    Developmental Update #1
    I have finally finished the terrain sculpting, so now all the terrain fits perfectly to the road! I have also painted the asphalt for where some of the houses will be. I also have made a new terrain base texture thats just grass, so there isnt any gravel roads in the middle of the terrain.

    I have also created ground cover, and painted it so it doesnt show on the road!

    The next major thing I have to attempt is placing the buildings. That shouldn't take too long, but finding the right building is what will probably take up most of the time

    Quite surprised to see this being made as an avid OMSI 2 "enjoyer" - gonna be surreal not seeing this map in N64 graphics at <20FPS

    Jokes aside, excited to see what you're going to do with the surrounding scenery and the dead-ends. Best of luck!

    Its pretty empty as of now, but I'll probably add a dense forest in the distance, and add some mountains. Those asphalt patches are where some of the houses will be. Only the ones the connect to the road and have lifted terrain though have those patches. Thanks for showing your interest!

    Developmental Update #2
    Nordspitze Bauernhof is starting to be completed! This is the first part of the map I am working on. I added bus stops, trees, and those buildings that are present in the OMSI 2 version!

    PBR has been added to the roads, pavement and cobblestone road leading to Baurenhof!

    I have also added a petrol station to the end of the road near Baurenhof too!

    This little area near Bauernhof has been completed with houses, streetlights and bus stops

    Krankenhaus has also been completed. It also comes with streetlights, houses, bus stops, and even the Market has been modelled

    I might send a beta version when the map is 90% done. Just before all of the small details are done, like the automatic lights, bus routes, and ai traffic

    I have made the AI traffic work. It works on all roads except the road to Bauernhof and the dead end road going to the petrol station

    I have also completed the distant, dense forest, and added all of the bus stops. The only more things I have to do are automatic streetlights, and a working bus mode.

    I have added a time trial to the map! This will take you around the map, from Bauernhof, through the main road of Krankenhaus, and then back to Bauernhof!

    I think it is necessary to age the road. And maybe replace signs with European ones, or markings with American ones.

    I can try to port the signs from Italy into this map and replace the signs, but I dont know how thata going to go. Also what do you mean to age the road?

    Burnt color, cracks filled with resin and pits filled with asphalt

    I am just using the original road mesh from OMSI 2, so making potholes would mean I will have to re-export the 3d models, and redo some of the terrain, which was already a pain

    Yeah, the reason I used the original mesh was because I wanted the roads to be 100% exact as in OMSI 2, which would have been harder if I drew it out of mesh roads
