I have an Asus GTX 580 that I overclocked. It gets up to 87 degrees Celsius when I'm playing BeamNG. Is that bad for the graphics card or am I safe?

My 480 runs around the same temps but depending on games it reaches around 90c.
Max safe operation temp for a 580 is 97c

It's an okay temp. Not bad at all nor overly good. The 480 has been running at those temps for 3 years now alongside lots of 100% GPU usage.

I've recently replaced the thermal tape and replaced the thermal paste on my 480.
Whilst almost a month of curing I haven't seen temps go over 83 for which games I play.

I removed the side of my computer case and now it never goes above 76-ish. Thanks for the reply though, nice to know I'm good anyways :)

    Everything maxed out except anti-aliasing.
    Edit: and 1080 times 1920

What fps do you get? When I pause physics the fps goes up 10 fps regardless of what map/vehicle I'm using.

it goes up like 50 for me lol

100-150 on lower detail and about 40-60 with a lot of foilage

Then it's probably not your cpu, if the fps depends on the foliage.

yea for sure, but it doesn't mean the CPU isn't limiting the performance by a good amount.

I can't say foilage though, maybe just "busier" maps IDK.

You get more FPS on pure grid than you do in woods or any other heavily decorated map, thats a fact.

i run a low resolution tho, 768 if I remember right, honestly I never cared about high res don't see too much difference, on a 60" 1080p screen in front of me, its fine, yeah its not perfect but after AA its not bad, doesn't seem worth the fps to me

With that resoloution I'm getting 80 fps at Dry Rock Island with my mildly overclocked 580 with everything maxed out except AA, might even be worth the performance increase as you said.
